I want to bleach my brain. A book does not need to be this graphic.

Wow. This was an experience. Listening to the audiobook was a whirlwind. I did not expect where everything was going - and that's good in my opinion. The twists and turns were done at just the right time. WARNING! This book is VERY graphic of its violent scenes. There is a lot to unpack emotionally throughout the entire novel. A small part of me was hoping for redemption and a more justice-like conclusion, but overall I'm satisfied with what transpired. It's a great book if you're into high-stakes true crime that happens in the moment.

Check TW first please. It was gripping. I feel like it could have been about 20 pages shorter, a bit too much unnecessary detail for my taste. It was great though, I loved it. I couldn’t wait for the retribution and wished it severe. Karin is an incredible author and I look forward to reading more from her. 4.5/5!

Ugh I enjoyed the first 3/4 (?)ish of this book and was excited but ultimately it was all too much in a lazy, predictable, cookie cutter way. It was fine. :/

So this book kinda took me all over the place. The big reveal in the beginning seemed to take the rest of the suspense and mystery out of the story, and then the more and more revolting things revealed just felt thrown in to see how far the author could go. I do appreciate the focus on evil and how well someone can hide that side of themselves; those parts gave me physical chills. There was a LOT of filler in my opinion. I could have easily given up reading because of the descriptions and how much unnecessary space they took up. I'm glad I finished it, but this book could have been way shorter.

3.5⭐️ Normally I have such strong opinions on thriller books as soon as I finish them. This one, I don't know. I was not expecting it to be quite so dark.  To be fair I didn't see any of the twists coming, I was so distracted by everything else. First 150 pages felt a bit boring, but they are important. This is a long thriller but it was worth it. I enjoyed the journey of this book, as much as anyone can with this kind of horrifying subject matter.
