Entertaining enough, but there's nothing unique here. It's like someone watched too much Battlestar Galactica and decided to put Starbuck into the Hunger Games universe. It also does that excruciatingly YA "I'm the reluctant hero. I don't want the power or fame but the universe just keeps giving it to me against my will" thing that generally makes for bad storytelling.

This was a great book! I didn’t think I’d like it, but I really enjoyed it! It definitely gives me Star Wars vibes.

ugh i was super excited about this one but it just didn’t do it for me. i was really looking forward to an action packed sci-fi story with sapphic mc but i was disappointed. the action was there and the plot was moving but it all felt pretty dull. i felt like there was no “urgency” to the plot because even reading the action scenes wasn’t enough to get me hooked to the story. the mc was cool and i liked her sarcasm but her ongoing flirting with hell monkey was kinda annoying. i was expecting her to already have an established yearning/relationship with another female character. sorry but i really didn’t like hell monkey’s character he’s partly the reason why i dnf this as his interactions with alyssa made me roll my eyes.
