Slow, boring, too many characters not enough story. I should have DNFd this book but stuck it out and for nothing. All about the FBI team with no real grit to the story. Disappointed to say the least.

I think this book had a lot of potential but it wasn't to my taste.  I picked it up thinking it was something Criminal Minds-esqe but I was wrong.  The MMC came off as immature and self-absorbed, spending a lot of time whining about how this or that wasn't fair.  The other characters were just as flat in my opinion.  The writing was okay but it was very hard for me to pay attention when all I wanted to do was slap the characters over the head for acting the way they did.

Very detailed book.

First thoughts of reading this book. Ugh such a slow read. Hindsight I absolutely loved that she built each character. The book was descriptive and set path for the next book. I'm hoping now that the team has been introduced next book wont to bad of a slow read.

slow, slow, slow

The plot moved very slowly here, but yeah I read the whole thing, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much. It got pretty old that the main character, Brandon, was very put off by not being called his name but rather nicknames like Kid, Slingshot, Pending, as he was on his first case with the FBI fresh out of Quantico. I'm not sure why he would have expected differently, I'd think that it would be expected. The characters were OK, the story was acceptable, it just moved at a snails pace. It was odd not to meet the second unsub (I think the author watched too much Criminal Minds) until pretty much the time when they realize they ARE the second bad guy, kind of took away from the guessing whodunit aspect.

While being fast paced and entertaining, the story seems to drag a bit in places. Does get your heart pumping near the climax though. Personally not a fan of the romance angle or the convenient removal of the obstacle to the said romantic angle. All in all, a one time read.

Is this her first book?

The writing was simple and disorganized. There's missing punctuation in quotes, the quotes aren't clear as to which character is speaking until it's no longer relevant, there's a lot of unnecessary information, a lot of missing information (actions and such i.e. Did he drop the gun and grab her hand? Did the report mention another child or is Brandon just psychic?)

The plot had seemed promising and I had actually been excited to read this as I love crime thrillers, but this was simply a task to read. It's really hard for me to understand that this author has written more than thirty books, because her writing doesn't reflect that.

I give this two stars as I appreciated the twist at the end, but overall I would not recommend this books to other readers.

I feel bad about giving a book such a low rating as I'm not an author and I admire anyone who can write a book. But this just wasn't good. The dialogue was awful and the book needed a very thorough edit - the writing was clumsy and the grammar was bad. The main character was not likeable at all and the story just wasn't believable. The description sounded amazing and it should have been a book that I really enjoyed. I thought about stopping reading more than once but wanted to finish it to make sure I hadn't missed something.

I've always enjoyed murder mysteries and crime programmes, but until recently I've never been one for reading psychology thrillers and then this past couple of months have brought a couple of new authors to my attention  one of which is Carolyn Arnold . Eleven the first bin the Brandon Fisher series has been in my kindle library for ages.  So due to my current challenge to read my  kindle library  I've just found yet another fantastic first novel from a series that I now need to read more of. I didn't want to put this down it gripped me and pulled me in from the first page, the atmosphere that  the writing  emerges you in is chilling wanting you to stay  with the action . If you love things like criminal minds  you need to read this it'll be your gateway to a new favourite series.
