Quite enjoyed this novel. I loved watching the pieces fall into place, seeing how the different characters' lives intersected. And I laughed out loud at a few parts - unusual in a mystery. I have enjoyed all of Atkinson's novels that I've read, and this is my favorite one, I think.

Third instalment of the series and you really do need to have read the other two before this one to fully enjoy the characters and to understand what is happening as there is some overlap.

I did enjoy this book, however found parts of it a little slow in the middle - I was listening to it in audiobook form which may not have helped.

However as always I loved how the stories connected and the finish was satisfying - also absolutely loved Reggie!! What a star!!

Loved this. It's the third in her Jackson Brodie series--they are classed as general novels but are essentially mysteries, he's an ex-police private investigator. Case Histories was the first, and that was great; One Good Turn, the second one, was a disappointment. Unfortunately you really have to have read both to get the full enjoyment of this one, but it's worth it--this was a fantastic book. Much tighter than either of the other two, and even more literary as well, which is saying kind of a lot. Also quite the page-turner.

I think I like Atkinson because she is able to write horrendous misery that is somehow also enjoyable. This book had all the things I can rarely stomach anymore and I still finished it in a day. The title says it all. Early on I actually thought, 'gah. This is a train wreck of horror' and then there actually was a train wreck, so it's that kind of book. The mystery was so well done -- I love stories where everyone keeps finding connections. Reggie stole the show. My favorite in the series so far.
