A lot has happened to Zoey since first coming to the House of Night. She's made some awesome friends, she's become the leader of the Dark Daughters (and Sons), she's in training to be a High Priestess, and she seems to be gifted on many levels that is very unusual for a fledgling (and even a vampyre). Now some strange and sad things are happening at the House of Night and she has a bad feeling about everything that's going on. She feels that it's her duty to find out what is happening in order to help those she loves.
This book was a huge step up from the first one in the series. Despite that though, it's still falling short of four stars for me. However, the main thing that helped this book out immensely is that it actually had a plot! The first book just felt kind of thrown together in places and it felt like Zoey was kind of just floating around and not heading towards anything specific. But this book laid down some foundation and I was happy to see that. I was also happy to see the extra comments in parenthesis brought down to much more manageable levels than the first book. They were still there, but not to an annoying degree.
I did have a couple problems with this book though. My first problem is the presenting of a love triangle (or maybe even a square). Boy do I hate love triangles! This one moved that up a notch from the last book, and I was disappointed in that. It makes Zoey seem immature and inconsiderate of others. She doesn't seem to feel particularly faithful to any of her guys. I won't say much to prevent spoilers, but lets just say that I just wish she'd pick one so that I could like one of them and not all of them! I hate that! lol
But overall, I liked this book a lot more than the last. It even had me close to tears at one point. But, like I said above, it's still falling just a bit short for me. I can definitely tell now that there was some foreshadowing in the first book in preparation for this one. But at the same time, some of the story just falls a little flat. The plot in this one was much juicier and I cared more about the characters. I'm not a big fan of Zoey, but I could see her growing a bit in this one and I appreciated her more because of that. So we'll see where this goes. If the books continue to get better then I'm sure they'll start approaching the four star mark for me! :)

Nie potrafię się nawet zmusić by dokończyć tą książkę.
Naznaczona nawet nie była taka zła, nie będę kłamać. Choć pewnie nie zauważyłam wszystkich wad, ponieważ brnęłam próbując dowiedzieć się o co lata z tymi zombiakami, bo byłam szczerze zainteresowana. No i lubiłam Damiena oraz Stevie Rae. Za nic Erica, chłopca-idealnego-dla-głównej-bohaterki. Dodatkowo cała ta seria była strasznie popularna wśród moich koleżanek, to pewnie też miało wpływ na moją ocenę.
Lecz tom pierwszy się skończył i pomyślałam, czemu nie? czytamy dalej, może coś ciekawego z tego wyjdzie. Wtedy nadeszła "Zdradzona"... Największy błąd mojego życia. Nie dotarłam dalej niż do chowania-zombiakowej-Stevie-Rae-z-moją-nemezis-Afrodytą a udało mi się jedynie dzięki ominięciu sporej części stron.
Czytając narrację Zoey mam ochotę wydłubać sobie oczy. Nie cierpię jej. Szczerze i, jestem niemal tego pewna, z wzajemnością, ponieważ przypadkowo dostałam w prezencie kolejny tom tej serii. Jest tak płytka, przewidywalna i skupiona na sobie i tym jak wszystko na nią wpływa, że nie ma żadnej siły, która zmusiłaby mnie do czytania jej perspektywy. W pewnym momencie zaczęłam bardziej lubić Afrodytę. Tak, ta stereotypowa postać popularnej-suki-blondynki była o wiele ciekawsza od dziewczyny, dla której wszyscy ludzie z penisem dostawali świra. Uwielbienie i centrowanie Zoey wokół wszystkiego było nie do zniesienia, a dodawanie jej wielbicieli z każdym tomem tylko jeszcze bardziej wzniecało moją nienawiść do YA fantasy.
A tak już nawet nie mówiąc o mojej najbardziej znienawidzonej głównej bohaterce! Czy tylko ja odniosłam wrażenie, że przedstawianie wampirów jako "nad-innych" było absurdalne? Popularny aktor, ah, to wampir. Powieściopisarz, który zmienił oblicze literatury? Wampir. Jeśli ktoś odnosił jakieś sukcesy lub miał nieprawdopodobny talent automatycznie był wampirem.
Cała ta seria jest śmiechu warta.

I had a pretty good time listening to this book! My overall thoughts are that it’s intriguing and entertaining but it did drag on a bit. The plot is easy to follow but I found it really got interesting towards the end. This does have one death that was so sad! This book also has a bunch of plot twists and you don’t know who to trust.
I really like Zoey and her friends but I don’t love that she keeps going back to Heath 🙄 he’s so annoying! I like Erik a lot more but it would be interesting to see if anything happens with Loren 🤷🏼♀️

Musím priznať, že druhý diel, na rozdiel od prvého, úvodného bol trochu lepší. Ale možno to bolo tým, že tentokrát som ho čítala v češtine, ktohovie. Každopádne, tých "teenagerských" výrazov, ktoré mi niekedy liezli na nervy bolo menej a aj tie mláďatá sa už chovali akosi menej hlúpo. Aj keď sem tam sa našla situácia, kedy by som niekoho najradšej prefliaskala, ale aj také musia byť.
Postavy ostávajú aké boli, aj keď pomaly sa tam začína viac zaplietať láska v Zoey-nom prípade aj sex (nie úplne, zatiaľ len v náznakoch a myšlienkach, ale aj tak) a také tie normálne ľudské veci, ktoré sa v živote mladých dejú ale o ktorých sa bežne nepíše, alebo vlastne ja osobne som sa s tým ešte nestretla. V tomto mi tá kniha príde akási ľudskejšia ako ostatné knihy (veď keď už by sme boli, keby Bella svojou rukou nahmatala Edwardovi "bouli" v nohaviciach). Takže ako mi tie výrazy išli na nervy, tak na druhú stranu to ostatné teenagerské a človečenské sa zniesť dá, ba práveže to tej knihe akosi pridáva na sympatiách.
Aby som ale moc neodbehla od postáv, Afrodita sa začína správať akosi inak, rovnako aj Neferet. Dosť nečakane povedala by som a musím povedať, že sa mi to pozdáva, aj keď v tom vidím ešte nejaké zauzlenia a kopu neprávosti v ďalších knihách, ale kde by sme bez tej neprávosti na svete boli. Nejako to budem musieť prežiť.
Čo sa týka priebehu knihy, prišla mi trochu živšia a dramatickejšia ako prvý diel, ale znova to šlo tak očakávane. Zo začiatku nejaké úvodné veci, potom sa udeje niečo zvláštne a skončí sa to nejakou "akciou". Predpokladám, že ostatné knihy budú rovnaké, ale neberiem to ako mínus, predsa len keby sa to malo všetko napchať do menšieho počtu kníh, bolo by tam tých akcií zrazu priveľa a to by bolo neúnosné.

The overall story is interesting and good, but there is a lot of misogyny that made it difficult to get through.
