This was a strange book and not in a good way. The story was intriguing but the dialogue and character interactions felt off and completely false. Still, Koontz has very engaging and entertaining prose and I was set to rate this a 3.5/5 up until the last chapter where the whole thing just shit the bed.

I have read a number of books by Dean Koontz and generally enjoy them, however this one was lacking in suspense and I did not like the main character all that much. Could not see where it it was going at all and when it got there it was a bit of a bizarre story line. Certainly not his best.

Definitely not what I expected by the synopsis on the back of the book, but still a well written story

Impossible things happen within a span of days (should have been months).
Too much of a slow burn to get what the book is actually about.

Took me forever to get through this book. I love Koontz, have every one of his books I could get my little hands on. My suggestion would be to skip the first 150 pages and start from there. I had to literally drag myself through the first half of this book. The second half was much better. But reading a book really shouldn't be that much work.

I really hated Ryan’s girlfriend, Sam. She was portrayed as being all knowledgeable about the deeper meanings of things and all ethos bullcrap. To me she was just a useless character. (May or may not write a full review later. To be clear, I did really enjoy this though)

This was my first book by this author and unfortunately i was not impressed. The story seemed to be off on tangents and then very quickly summed up in the last few chapters. It may have been that it was an audio book, however i'm not sure. I will probably try again with this author, so i hope that the others are better.
