It was entertaining. Though I couldn't see why H is so attracted to h. He said he saw a bunch of things I didn't see at all. The h was so insecure it became annoying at some point. The “aliens” were so misogynistic that this could have been set on earth. The “aliens” were tall, muscular humans with some scales on their shoulders. They even talked like American people.

This was actually really good. Surprisingly so. Hero was alpha but forward thinking enough not to be borrish. He was also incredibly sweet too. Heroine was curvy BUT shockingly not hung up on her insecurities because woe is me because I'm chubby attitude. THANK YOU GOD. Or shall I say author? Hah. Ellie was a mature chick who had a few insecurities brought on by an awful mother and sister who sounded like bullies with their own insecurities lashing out IMO. So it was reasonable she had her hang ups but THANKFULLY this gal has a brain and emotional maturity and she figures out her shit in a timely manner without being whiney or over emotional about it. That was lovely IMO. You can barely read a book these days and the heroine be chubby or just plain fat and better watch out y'all because that'll be a huge dark cloud over the whole book because it's always made out to be such a huge deal when it shouldn't be.

So thank you author for writing intelligent female characters, including the secondary ones. Even the supposed mean girl had a heart so that was great.

All in all it had an interesting story, nice pacing without drowning in boring details. The romance was sweet and sexy enough when needed. I was invested in the continuing plot of the series and the other women who was captured. Looking forward to checking out more from this series and author.

Pleasantly surprised

This is a very humanoid take on aliens, but I appreciate it. It's a good book for someone like me who has limited experience with SciFi romance. It's well written, and though 190something pages limits the experience. it was well balanced; it does feel incomplete, rushed in a way.. I do plan to continue the series.

The main character is a pushover who constantly doubts herself and sees no wrong in the way she’s treated by her mate.

I’m finally discovering alien romances that don’t take a looooong time to set up. This one leaps into a story about human women who are abducted, rescued by evil people, then rescued by good people… although their group is split up in the process.

I didn’t love the pairing of this one. Terex is a hot warrior and Ellie is a shy, short, curvy kindergarten teacher who can’t believe he’s into her. What I didn’t like was that throughout the book they never really talked to one another about their wants or the future… and even at the end when she’s insecure because an ex-lover is flirting with him, he’s like “how dare you dishonor me by thinking I would cheat” and then leaves her alone. Like… after she told you how she was bullied and her pageant queen sister tortured her, you’re not going to give her a pass for being insecure?

The aliens on this planet are again, not really aliens. They’re basically muscular guys with a few strips of scales on their skin because they’re descendants from dragons, but appear to just be oversized humans. The world building seemed a tad underdeveloped, unless I missed how everyone was able to speak the same language immediately.

TW women kidnapped and sold, threat of cannibalism / assault
