As I was updating my shelves, I noticed that the long list of "read" books under Tiffany Reisz had a glaring "want to read" indicating that this of a book didn't survive my previous library destruction and resurrection.

Let me fix that.

I read this little book when I got it in the chillers (?) anthology. I only purchased the anthology because of this entry, so when I finished it, I promptly put it away and went about my life.

The story was fun, sweet, with humor and a bit of supernatural mystery. The long and the short of it is a young teacher takes a new post at an exclusive, old-world style all boys school on the East Coast (?). She gets there and instantly taken with the tweedy headmaster of the school who looks at her as if she is going to cause trouble and drag him and his boys with her. She doesn't, but she sure wants to get his hair ruffled and heat up his eyeglasses. So, between the humor, and the seduction we realize that there is more going on with the school than initially thought. Some creepy sounds and unexplained sightings as well as some misunderstood visitors clue the reader into the knowledge that there is more going on that just teaching.
The book is sweet with just the right amount of heat and humor.

Like most of everything Tiffany writes, you know its hers the first page. Her voice and writing style is unmistakable and always the reason why I continue to pay full price for her books. If asked I would say that this book was the answer to the question, "What would Soren do for Nora if he passed away?", Why he would send her to an all boys school to teach English and fall in love with the perfectly respectable and available headmaster, who is in no way a threat to his memory, but can offer some real love. I can see that.

This is what I get for reading a book at 1 in the morning but why did I do this to myself. Stern professor vibes if you squint but the dialogue is just SO bad I could barely finish it.

I had my quibbles with some of the ways things were phrased, but I honestly didn’t catch on. That’s all I’m going to say. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

This book was phenomenal. I listened to the audiobook version. The narrator was top notch, and did the voices of the characters perfect. She embodied the characters and brought them to life. I laughed out loud at the characters's actions when funny. They were funny, mischievous, and totally lovable. I loved how gruff and grumpy the headmaster, Edwin, was. But still loving at the same time. The ending was somewhat predictable, but the story was enjoyable nonetheless.

I really wanted to like this book with all the boarding school vibes but the writing just did not work for me. The characters didn’t feel real and this book really wanted to take place in the 50s but couldn’t commit

A very good short romance with sad undertones. This author is very creative with her stories, and this was no exception.

Upon rereading this, I had to bump it to 4.5. This is very romantic, heartbreaking, and so well written.
Spoiler I wish we could have gotten an alternate ending where Gwen chose to live. I don't know how, but I think that could have been interesting.

I have to say that I have yet to find a book by Tiffany that I have not enjoyed. I was very sucked in and enjoyed this story...the ending though... I did NOT expect that and have to say that I was surprised and enjoyed the ride.
