A fabulous overview of various addictive substances and the current research about the processes involved. The lecturer clearly cares about the topic and how it touches upon so many lives. If you want a greater appreciation for addiction and how small the differences are between the “normal” person and an “addict” then listen this series. We are at the mercy of our biological systems and that shouldn’t alarm us.

A great little listen regarding what makes an addictive brain. Ranging from how various psychoactive drugs hijack reward receptors, how natural pesticides created by plants to ward off insects are used in consumption by humans (caffeine, nicotine, cocaine). It was also interested to dive into how people are more susceptible than other.

When you gain a better understanding on what these varying substances do to the brain, you have an better understanding of how you can tackle it and how you perceive others that suffer under its effects.

Informative, interesting but slowwww. The reader moves too slowly and I found my mind wandering at times. I tried this as an Audible daily deal though and was pleased.
