This book was good but it was a bit of a slow burn.

Really enjoyed this second installment of Walt's series. The main character is a fun and snarky woman, who unfortunately leans a bit too much to the wobbly-knee, please-rescuce-me side for as bad-ass as she supposedly is. Despite that I enjoy the world and the stories. I'll definitely pick up the next one in the series and look into the rest by Walt.

From a 5 star in the first book to a 3.5 in this... There was a plot, but the Main Character kept having tantrums... Making this a far cry from me comparing it to Kate Daniels in the first read.

I would have liked a little more Iannis and Fenris time.... It was Minly Sunaya running around complaining to anyone who would listen about Iannis, and the information she was privvy to... And never getting round to Mentioning it to Iannis... was a bit far fetched...

Still i will carry on as i do like Iannis Alot and there is a decent plot unfolding under Sunayas "Me show"

Bound by Magic is book two in The Baine Chronicles by Jasmine Walt. It’s filled with suspense, excitement, and wonderful characters.

We continue our story with Sunaya who is sucked into an investigation. Shifters have gone missing and the overall ARC continues to build as well. Sunaya has kept her magic hidden until now and so, she must embrace and develop it. She’s got to find a way to deal with her new situation; especially with her growing attraction to the Chief Mage Iannis ar’Sannin.

We get to see Sunaya grow as a character and in her knowledge of Magic. I really like our lead Sunaya. Even with all the new stuff coming at her she doesn’t lose herself. She finds a way to deal with it all, stay true to herself, and grow.

The world-building and secondary characters continue to add to the story and world. It’s developing well. The story does end on a cliffhanger, but the series is complete, so you can dive into the next book.

Bound by Magic is full of action, adventure, and mystery. I very much enjoyed this novel and the continuation of the story. I did bing this series and it felt great to be sucked into a good Urban Fantasy series.

I don't know why I'm reading these books.

It drives me crazy that Walt made up all of these ridiculous names for places when there was exactly zero need for such confusion. "Solanthe Bay" is very clearly San Francisco and "Firegate Bridge" is the Goldengate and "Mexia" is Mexico... STOP. Dear LORD. These ridiculous names would be bothersome even if they weren't TOTALLY NEEDLESS because she doesn't pick one root language for her fantasy language, which means it has no consistency and doesn't seem like a real language. But the fact remains that they ARE an unnecessary confusion that just trips me up. And it sounds stupid. Why, WHY would you introduce unnecessary confusion when it doesn't even make your novel sound more badass??????

Heck of a lot of subplots made things kind of hard to keep track of at times, but it was decent. The giant cliffhanger at the end though...
