Not as good as the Percy Jackson series, but an amusing story full of great Egyptian mythology, and better than the first book in this series.

I wanted to understand a lot more about all the gods and pharoahs I'd seen. This book is interesting, and has taught me about the gods in a way that I will remember them. Boring documentaries just don't stay in my head. These gods have been given personalities, interesting characters in the stories so it's made it a lot easier to remember who they are. Loved the Percy Jackson series which taught me lots about the Greek gods.

So we start off with the new characters[yes Bobo Bobolisnski, I will tell the names]. So the two new characters are Jaz and Walt. So as soon as I heard about Sadie's feelings for Walt, I groaned, and then almost threw the book on the ground. As if Sadie doesn't have enough boy, actually god problems they had to go and throw in another boy. So we learn that Walt is dying, which just adds another twist. The biggest problem I had with this book, is that Sadie is only thirteen( and a newly turned thirteen year old at that.). My point is that this is her first relationship and probably not her last. She is probably not going to stay with Anubis or Walt for the rest of her life, even if they find a cure for Walt.[Be quiet! Bobo Bobolisnski, don't tell them what happens in the last book] Now let's move on to the rest of the characters. So Sadie decides that even though the world is going to end in a couple of days she still needs to go celebrate her birthday. After gods save her, like usual, she gets scolded by Carter. Then a couple of days later Carter runs off to save the girl of his dreams. So I found the main characters reckless and annoying, even though the book tries to say Carter is boring. This book was my favorite of the series, only because Anubis kissed her and I freaked out. I understand that this whole review was all about the characters, but they were my main problem with the book.
Team Anubis Forever!!!!!!!

I want to give it 5 stars, but the Sadie x Anubis/Walt thing makes me both highly and deeply uncomfortable.

This book was much more interesting to me than the first book. Mostly because it was less introductory and more action but the whole story was so much fun. I loved the way Sadie and Carter got to travel and we got to see different parts of the Nomes in the House of Life. I liked how they had to make a lot of difficult choices in order to keep Chaos from rising at that moment; plus the way the Kanes started training these younger (and older) magicians who opened up the other paths for us to explore.
In all, I thought this book showed a fantastic relationship between the siblings and I’m excited to see how this whole story ends. I hope we get more information about the Nomes and Zia and honestly the magic in general.
One of the things that I did hate though was the way that the ending was so fast. I wouldn’t have minded it to be dragged out for even a few more pages or maybe the middle cut a little? It was just a lot of buildup (similar to book one) for such a whiplash ending.

I enjoyed it, but somehow found it less involving and less amusing than either his Percy Jackson series or The Red Pyramid. Wish I'd cared more about the characters.
