This had so much potential. Loved the idea and loved the setting. If you liked House of Bane and blood this is sort of similar steam punk, fantasy vibes. It is spicy as well. However I felt it was a bit predictable and I’m not sure I’m that motivated to read the rest of the series. Didn’t love the FMC either.

Thoughts

This is listed as a Dark Romantic Fantasy and y'all know that is all I usually stay away from but coming from Shanora Williams I had to give it a try and I am glad I did.

The fantasy elements were not confusing and the actions was really good. The world wasn't overly complicated so it didn't require a ton of world building. Plus, some of it takes place on earth.

The dark romance part was not dark in "I am going to do stuff to you against your will and you'll like it" but a fated mates story and a man who is like "touch her and I'll unalive you."

I am actually excited to continue the series and I am actually shocked I haven't seen this around more. Because I heard it is like Peaky Blinders Tom fan fic or something and people post about that show all the time lol.

Tethered mates and wolves

First and foremost I want to say I am real picky with my romantasy. I either like it as a whole or not at all. With this one particularly I have fallen right in the middle. I knew going in it would end in a cliffhanger because 99.9% of this book genre does. So if you are not a fan of cliffhangers braze yourself. As for the story as a whole it is not my favorite but i did enjoy it more than I thought I would. Caz and Willow's story I loved, especially the telepathic part. The whole world building is detailed and easy to keep up with. The plot itself is entertaining as expected. There's unexpected twist and turn which I very much applaud. However, the love/romance part and chemistry between Caz and Willow is what I am questioning (in a good way). At times I really felt the love but other times it felt as if the only reason they were together was because of the bond between them. Other than that the story as a whole is one to read if you love dark romantasy, fated mates, interracial love, and slowburn.

Imagine you meet your soulmate but he lives in another universe, how do you get actually meet him? Follow on as Caz and Willow explore there bond with each other.

Willow is from Earth but Caz lives in another Universe known as Vakeeli! Although they have not met they are hearing each other thoughts. Willow always felt as though she was supposed to stay alone. She has no family at the moment since she has not heard from her twin brother in months. Now she is hearing another man's thoughts and even though he is grumpy she is quite drawn to him.

One night, she meets him. What was supposed to be a one night adventure into another world turns out to be five days with Caz. And although he is quite surly, they are both drawn to each other. As they investigate how this mind reading works, they discover that they are tethered to each other. This means they are soulmates and could probably die if they stay together too long.

While initially believing that they should stay apart. They realise they cannot do that, they souls need each other. Willow visits Vakeeli again, because she misses Caz so much. Caz knows for the first time what it feels like to be really close to someone.

But can two persons from two different universes really bond and will the forces around them allow it? This story is so engaging, the main character's are absolutely lovable, I can't wait to learn more.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Action-packed, Easy-to-read, Haunting, Page-turner, Steamy, Unpredictable
