Finally it is the turn of the 'smart' brother Kane. The brother that loves science, has a zen room and loved to hunt werewolves by himself in his spare time.

The years have move on yet a little more with the present war, Janie is now 21, Garrett is a 15yr old boy and Kane and Emma are still working on a cure for the virus.

In this book we have less of Kane in the lab and its more in the open or in his bedroom followed by a little time in Scotland.

The vampires have finally found their weapon against the demons with Amber Freebird and her grandmother, however logical Kane does not understand his feelings towards Amber and finds himself strangely reluctant to put her in any danger.

Amber is spunky and does not put up with Kane's bossiness and is a also a vegan and has Kane eating Tofu and thinking about other things.

There is quite a bit of action in this book and we get to see more of Janie, Zane and Kalin in the dream world, we also get some of the story in Jace's point of view with his time with the Demons.

I was really happy that they managed to get Jace back and cannot wait to have his story told and how he recovers and the war progresses.

Kane Kayrs's brother Jase has been imprisoned by demons and tortured--physically and mentally--for four years when Provoked opens. The Kayrs brothers need a demon destroyer to help rescue him, but they believe they are extinct. Until their trackers find the only known demon destroyer in existence. Kane--the brilliant, logical, socially challenged brother--has been given the task of retrieving her.

Amber Freebird has been raised in an eco-village as a vegan pacifist and doesn't know that vampires and demons exist, let alone that she's a demon destroyer. When Kane talks to her about vampires and demons, she thinks he's crazy and tries to escape him. But when demons attack, she has no choice but to believe her own eyes. When her grandmother is threatened, she agrees to help Kane in exchange for her grandmother's safety. But can they find Jase before he succumbs to the demons' torture?

As they work together, Amber begins to fall for the sexy vampire. She believes in love and romance. Kane wants to mate her, but he doesn't believe in love. How can they ever find happiness with such a disparity?

♥♥♥

"I'm all brain, no heart."
Kane is a genius, yet he doesn't understand the way Amber makes him feel. He stubbornly approaches his relationship with Amber rationally, like a business decision. The genius has a lot to learn. You'll love him for it. Rationally, of course.

"This isn't about thinking. This is about feeling."
Amber reads romance novels, and believes in love and that heroines create their own happy endings. Kane thinks "She's smart, sexy, and dedicated to what she believes in." She believes in pacifism, and yet she finds herself in the middle of a war.

Janie, Zane and Kalin's story continues in Provoked. Janie is now twenty, and old enough to start making decisions that will affect the fate of the world. Zane is as sexy and mysterious as ever. Kalin is a very bad boy who rides the knife-edge of redemption.

Provoked is a page-turner. I could never find a good place to put the book down, so I kept reading and reading. I laughed, I cried, I was anxious for them to find Jase before it was too late, and I desperately wanted Kane and Amber to be happy.

I won't tell you whose book is next, as that would spoil the ending of Provoked. Suffice it to say that we have a good story to look forward to. Look for an official announcement of the next book within the next month of this posting.

In the meantime, enjoy Provoked!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not my favorite couple but it was fun to see Kane the super rational scientist and Amber the vegan activist falling in love x) And FINALLY Jase was found ... Although I don't know if it's really good news .. .
SO eager to read Jase's book and find out how he's going to get back to the normal life ... (AND SOMEONE FINALLY KILL ALL THESE F*CKING DEMONS ????!!)
PS: who else think that a threesome between Janie, Kalin and Zane would be the solution to the war xD ??
Opposites attract. Genius Kane Kyars (the smart one) meets his match in Amber Freebird home-schooled owner of a GED. With Jase still held by the demons Kane is dispatched to go pick up the newly discovered Demon Destroyer Amber. Amber is untrained and has no idea how to harness her gifts. Amber and Kane come at life from different angles. She is a peace loving vegan and he is a lab rat that understands the necessity of war. But despite all that there is great chemistry between them. Can they meet in the middle?
This book fulfills the promise of this series. This is the best in the series so far. A terrific fast paced story with both pathos and humor. This series just keeps getting better with each book.
Thank you to eKensington and Netgalley for this ARC.
phew.....this was a tough one.
A whole lot of emotions riding high as the family try desperately to get poor Jase away from the demons....but they can't find him....and it's tearing all the brothers in bits.
Kane was given a mission to find what could be the only "demon destroyer" left but he's not brimming with smoothness and makes a compete hash of things....!!!
We see Jase. and I gotta say it's heart breaking for the reader as well.....especially when the king reports of the videos....
it just can't be true....
This is a book filled to the brim with emotions so intense. So it's very different to the previous ones. But takes your breathe away, makes you think of what YOU would do for family; for love ; for happiness.
