feels weird to rate an encyclopedia but here we are. the creator interviews were the best part. i don’t think this volume really added much to the story or illuminated anything super mysterious, but it was fun.

Nejmíň 150 zbytečných stránek a tak malá písmenka, že by to nejednoho astigmatika přivedlo do hrobu. Jako vážně, někdo by tu zasloužil napráskat. ALE ty poslední stránky a rozhovory byly fakt pěkný.

So I've been "reading" this book for a very long time, but have ultimately DNF'd it due to taking so long to finish it. I have simply lost interest. When I had initially finished the Death Note manga, I was keen to absorb as much of the series' content as I could. Now, after spending significant time apart from the series I simply do not care what this book has to say. I believe I have read enough of it to give it a rating, and what I did read just didn't seem to add to my knowledge of Death Note. It doesn't really say anything we didn't already know or learn from reading the manga itself, and any "extra" bits I just wasn't interested in.
It is an okay volume, but a die-hard Death Note fan would likely love it.

I actually apologize because it took me almost four years to finish the book. Problem is, I don't usually get into reading a book that goes into such detail about a book I've just read, so I had some troubles to focus at the time and let it slide for a long time.

Now I was back at it, and it had been a while, so it all made more sense, since I was looking for some real Death Note after seeing the thing Netflix recently brought out. This 13th collection contains a lot of information, though not necessarily new information. Character files, an explanation for all the chapter titles in the series, all the rules from the Death Note. And L's real name.

Also, there are interviews with the creators and a pilot chapter, which was actually a lot of fun to read, even though if it had stayed on that path, it had been a completely different kind of series. However, I would only recommend this to the real fans of the series that can't get enough of it. For the rest of us, I think it might be a bit too detailed.

Helpful if you want info on the series, but otherwise useless. The best thing here, though, and why it deserves four stars, is its inclusion of the pilot story.
