If I hadn’t done this as a tandem read I would’ve considered this book to be so slow. I lovedddd the character development and that SJM finally discovered therapy LMAO but this served as really good breaks with all the adventure and high stakes in EOS. You can tell her habit of putting so much info into the last 100 pages started here.

I honestly don’t like Chaol and this book didn’t make me like him any more. All of the characters seem the same at this point. The females all are haughty, magically gifted or great fighters and fall in love right away. The males are all controlling, alpha and gifted as well. It’s like a mirror of the characters on the Northern continent. Almost all of the romances have been enemies to lovers in this series so far.

Also maybe I’m misunderstanding but I thought Valg princes (and you would think princesses) could only inhabit a magical body so what is Duva’s or the khagan families powers?
