It's not a remarkable or rememberable book.

I liked this a lot, however, I thought it was just building on the meet of the story when it ended, and I wanted more action-packed superhero fighting throughout the whole book instead of just in the last two chapters. I hope that Jason Reynolds will build on this re-telling of Spiderman in the years to come.

Wow. That was... really intense, and also phenomenal. Definitely a crossover for non-superhero readers, as well as for superhero readers who might otherwise not be up for engaging with pretty deep YA / realistic fiction. Highly recommended.

This book didn't have much of a plot but I LOVED the writing and I think the author did a fantastic job of capturing Miles Morales' character and personality. It felt like very much Spider-Man although some people might not agree.

I personally loved it and enjoyed reading every single page which I don't get very often. I think it had great representation for people of color and felt very genuine.

Should have read this before I saw the movie. I would have liked it more.

I shouldn't be surprised but Jason Reynolds has done it again. He's taken a book about a superhero and made it something new. I was hesitant to pick this up bc I thought it would just be another retelling of a comic story for kids that don't like comics, as super hero books often are. Man was I wrong! Jason tells a unique story about Miles that really is about him being a black teenager. Spider-Man is merely the framework. I truly unique and engaging feat!! Know going in this book takes place in the comic book world of Miles Morales, which is a little different than the Into The Spider-Verse world. So if you only know Miles from that movie (the BEST comic book movie ever), at least do some quick brushing up before. I don't know that it's totally necessary; Jason gives you enough information that you are almost certainly fine coming in with no knowledge. Background info is just helpful if you have questions about differences in the world of the book compared to the movie. Either way, another Jason Reynolds CLASSIC!

SpiderMan for this generation. Jason Reynolds knocks it out of the park, amazing.

This was deeper than I expected. Of course, I didn't know anything about the Miles Morales origin or legacy before starting the book. But it was less about Spider-Man and more about a kid trying to figure out who he really wants to be, and what kind of impact he wants to make on the world and his neighborhood. It's about finding pride (and strength) in where you come from, no matter what others think about it. This story was less about the action of being Spider-Man and more about the heart & spirit behind the boy behind the mask.
