Not the ending that I suspected... still a very good read.

This book drew me in really quickly and kept me interested the whole time! I liked how it showed family dynamics and how religion can affect that, it was really interesting.

A compelling book providing perspectives from Nigeria that I had never read before. I found the book to be both insightful and informative.

Tragically hopeful

When your world expands, it can never be made small again. Siblings embark on a journey of self-discovery as they struggle to overcome an abusive father and attempt to find their place in the world.

The subject matter of this book made tough to pick up sometimes, but every time I did, I couldn’t put it down. Kambili was an excellent character, someone I could root for. I loved Amaka and Aunty Ifeoma too. I enjoyed seeing the modern, family side of Nigerian culture. I thought the juxtaposition of Papa was real, but so hard to tease apart, beautifully drawn. The writing was excellent.

A good book for anyone who is not familier with Nigerian literature and culture. A story of a young girl and what colonization has done to Nigeria and its people. There is hope and love.
