It might be that I listened to this book vs read it, but I just didn't love it the way I loved the adventures of Maisie Dobbs...

Amazing introduction to a fascinating character!
“Good, I could do with a spot of fear.”
Elinor has to become the predator, so as to not be the prey. Living through two world wars. Occupied Belgium as a child and The Blitz in London, before returning again to Belgium and again to London. Finally the English countryside and peace.
“Home is where everyone deserves to feel safe.”
And yet there is no peace, not yet.
I hope this turns into a series!

Dear The White Lady,
I love it when a friend's suggestions come through for me! I really enjoyed how tangled and twisted your story lines were. Every part of your story ended up tangled into other parts of the story and I had to carefully pick them apart. You gave me total Kate Quinn historical fiction, spy vibes which I really enjoyed. I just wanted you to be more character focused, but with so many moving parts, it became difficult for me to really get into anyone in your story and I struggled to connect with any of them. The hidden female spy network is such an interesting time in history, and l really liked getting another glimpse into that time period.
