I can't even explain how I'm feeling after finishing this book, a little all over the place. In the beginning I wasn't super into it but I really ended up loving it.

2020: what can i say, speaks out of heart. wonderful and breathtaking, touching but also ripping me apart. read again in summer

2021: wow. I really really felt it this time, could also see it from another perspective again. I just love this book. all that two bodies one soul stuff is exactly what i enjoy about it… this book is a work of art and a masterpiece. I NEED the sequel!!!

2022: everytime i read this book it feels like there are passages i'm reading for the first time. It's just insane how well and beautifully this book is written. This time around tho, i noticed how completeky destroying and toxic Elio's obsession with Oliver was, especially in the first part. it makes sense tho. but it's still super concerning. loved the book like the first time

This book stays dear to my heart. Even though I must admit that it's a shameful passion. When discussed with others, I will always tell you the following points:

- They took the call me by your name thingy a bit too far in Rome.
- I am aware of the age difference and I think it's disgusting too, especially since it gets brushed over with Elio's intelligence.
- The sequel sucks.

But.

It also contains something beautiful - hidden beneath every red flag. The dialogue Elio had with his dad near the ending. Has left my heart in smithereens when my eyes layed upon these very words: 'But to feel nothing so as not to feel anything - what a waste!'. Or the pure yearning in 'We had the stars you and I. And this is given once only.' OR the absolute agony in 'Is it better to speak or to die?'. And finally, the one that forced the stake through my vegetable heart after enduring this book:'Right now there's sorrow. I don't envy the pain. But I envy you the pain.'

Lastly, I have to admit that it has been the first piece of consumed media that made me accept a part of myself. How could I despise it?

me aburrió un poco (bastante). no sentí esa profundidad que muchos dicen que tiene lol literal sólo se trata de un twink que está horny pero en fin si hubieron algunas frases que me gustaron so algo es algo.
