I don't normally enjoy court Drama, but I certainly enjoyed it in this book. I think that the diversity in the story telling of all the different plotlines is what is really making this series work well for me overall.

Another great entry in this series. I'm a bit nervous about where the Jedi are headed, but in a good way? We'll see what happens in the next book!

Good book, slow build-up in the first couple chapters, but picks up quickly. Enough references to previous books that I figured out what was going on in the SW universe by context, without having to read earlier stuff.

Much better pace than the previous couple of books. I'm feeling better about the series now.

Better than the previous ones. It provides an idea of where this is entirely headed to. I'll be waiting for Conviction to arrive in the next few months.

The Fate Of The Jedi saga continues with this novel as Luke and Ben actually work alongside the Sith to hunt down Abeloth. This one also starts to move the overall plot of this particular saga along more so than the previous entries. The Jedi Council starts to break up their stalemate (thankfully), and more light is shed on the mentally disturbed Jedi that have haunted Han and Leia and the Council since book one. Hopefully the next one will further provide answers to the issues being faced by the main characters.

Read March 2018

2.5 stars
entertaining enough, but disappointing

Pros
- I love the interactions between the Jedi and the Sith
- The last fight scene in this book was actually interesting
- Vestara Kai is the best. Seriously.
- Ben and Luke's relationship continues to shine
- Did I mention how great Vestara's character is?

Cons
- this book overall was kinda boring
- Tahiri's trial is dragging on waaaaaaay too long. I no longer care.
- I don't care about the freedom flight stuff and didn't feel anything for the journalist when I should have.
- the whole Kenth Hamner, acting grand master, being in conflict with the other masters was just okay. Not as compelling as it should have been
- The entire last scene with Allana and the Barabels. What the hell. We all know that's going to end very, very badly. And it seemed so forced and unnecessary. Why??

Considering that the last few contributions Troy Denning has made to the Star Wars Expanded Universe have been underwhelming, this latest addition to the Fate of the Jedi series was...not so disappointing. Unfortunately, he's still using cliched phrases such as referencing a tingly sense of danger along this or that character's spine. Really? Of course, I just want everything to be over with to find out how it ends, and because I think the overall story is starting to drag. I am, however, looking forward to the next book in the series, which thankfully will be written by Aaron Allston.
