Explosive

This book made my heart explode! Even though Heart's Insanity is a stand alone book, it becomes richer if you read Ashes to New, which takes us into the tormented childhood of Skye and Bean. When Skye meets Ash she is a successful doctor who has overcome some daunting life obstacles. For Ash it is "love at first sight" and he is willing to love her and help her no matter what it takes to free Skye from her demons. This book made my heart believe that love can conquer all! Bravo Ellie Masters to once again writing a magnificent book.

I’m not usually into rocker romance, but this one blew me away. It did have many dark storylines but it just made the story grittier. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

Ellie Masters is an author who is new to me and I truly enjoyed this story. This story could have been dark and depressing, but it wasn't. The writing was great and the story was heart-wrenching. The story deals with some trauma in Skye's past and it was handled very well. The ending felt a bit rushed to me, but I was so happy for the HEA, I was able to get past that... (it did take a star off though). The narrator has a very sweet and pleasing voice, but I thought she sounded a little young for the character. I also think a male narrator in addition to Amanda would have added a boost to this story. The story was nicely paced with a nice flow. I'm interested to read the next book in the series.

When Skye walks in to find Tyler cheating on her she goes through so many emotions but knows that she has to make it through her day at work. Stopping for some at the coffee shops on her way to work she meets Ash who appears to be rude and arrogant. When rushing from the coffee shops Skye hears Ash behind her after realising that she had left her bag behind. Ash travels with Skye to her work and when they arrive that were the two realise they have sizzling chemistry. As Skye was planning a three-day holiday Ash decides to invite himself and let's Skye know that he is a famous rock star. With some alcohol and involved and them having to hide from the paparazzi and fighting the chemistry an interesting twists kept me intrigued to see where they were headed. These two go through so much that keeps you intrigued and not wanting to put it down till the end.

I read an Ellie Masters book years ago and hated it so much, but I'm really glad I gave her another try. I don't want to say it's "fun" since the heroine had so much to deal with, but I definitely needed to keep reading to see what would happen. It dragged on a bit at the end, especially because after awhile the constant "he'll run away from me!!!" sentiment gets old. But I love the pairing of a doctor with a rock star, that was really fun. I liked how she kept thwarting him. I don't think I'll read the next one just because I don't like a lot of military romance, but this one wasn't bad.

Huuuuuge trigger warning for rape, abuse, sexual abuse and trauma.

Yeah this book was DARK, but I actually really enjoyed it? Normally I would have docked a plot like this because there was still a lack of communication causing conflict, HOWEVER I'm giving it a pass because of her reasoning behind not actually communicating. Interesting that she didn't end up going to therapy about it but I guess she kind of did via Ash talking to a therapist?

Anyway, I liked this book and am willing to read another from this series. Also, it's solidified my love for Rockstar Romances
