Okay, sooo maybe Shakespeare isn't as bad as I thought he was. Like I didn't understand the hype but now I do. He has drama in all of his plays and I live for it. There is backstabbing- metaphorical and physical-, murder, liars, schemes, and great villains.

Okay so going into this, I knew Othello was a tragedy so I think I was expecting Romeo and Juliet with stupid characters that are oblivious to what's going on around them. but I've come to realize that Shakespeare loves the miscommunication trope. This man sat down at his desk and was like ' I'm going to write the most confusing plot and none of the characters are going to understand what is happening until the very end.' and he truly just did that with Othello. Obviously, as a reader, you pick up things faster than the characters since we also get their monologues. however, NONE of the characters realized they were getting manipulated by Iago. no one was going to question his stories. no one decided to talk to each other and see if Iago told the truth. but oh, honest Iago is holier than thou and is not a liar.

So there are not many characters in this play that are likable. There are literally only two. Desdemona and Emilia deserved better. Justice for Des and Emilia

Another book I studied in school. I loved this one, the theme of envy is so painful, but so interesting all the same. The way information got twisted was frustrating, but kept you wanting to learn more. Glad I got to study this one, would never read it had it not been in class tho!
