With her mentor captured and evil spreading with no one interfering to stop it. Angelique begins to do what Evariste trained her to do and help the people who need it. Along the way she is punished by the Conclave for breaking rules for apprentices while she is doing what no other magic user is either able or willing to attempt. How will she handle the pressures of new crises with little guidance, finding her mentor, trying to help withing the constraints of the rules, and harsh criticism and doubt? Angelique's epic journey continues in the Curse of Magic as things slowly start to rise to a simmer.
The Fairy Tale Enchantress Series should be read in order and it does contain spoilers for Timeless Fairy Tale Books 1-3 and 5-6 especially.
This would be an enjoyable read for those who like K .M. Shea's Timeless Fairy Tale series, clean slow burn romance, lots of humor (especially sarcastic/snarky and situational humor), good vs evil conflicts, non-gory fights, creative magic, the story of a maveric fighting for what is right in disapproving culture, fairy tale retellings, self-sacrificial characters, characters growing in their abilities, and lots of adventure.

You know that feeling when the new book you have been waiting on finally comes out so you read it really slowly so that it lasts longer? I tried really hard to have that feeling!!! But now I have to wait for the third book, and I'm gonna expire from impatience.
So book two continues Angelique's quest through the various kingdoms trying to put out Chosen fires and find clues on the still missing Evariste. I will say that my theory that the Veneno Conclave is backing the Chosen is looking more plausible because they did actually admit that they are harassing Angelique because of the potential damage she could cause.
The real question fellow readers is: how on Earth Kitty Shea is going to wrap everything up in a neat little bow if she follows her normal pattern of trilogies? Because I can tell you that we still have a lot of old friends to save by the end of this book! If that means I get more books, then I suppose I'll have to brave the task! lol! When is the next one due out because this series has been a blast so far?!

A light, fun read set in an awesome fairy tale world.
Curse of Magic is the 2nd book in the Fairy Tale Enchantress series, and takes place at the same time as the Timeless Fairy Tales(with the exception of The Snow Queen), from a different point of view.
The world building gets 5 stars from me, I love the continent she's created and all the factions within. This series has been building up for so many books, so I'm completely invested in what's going to happen and can't wait to find out more.
The characters get 3 stars from me. They're likeable, but one-dimensional. They're defined so often by one trait that it feels repetitive to read about. (i.e., Angelique and her war magic, Evariste and his feelings for Angelique, etc.) Subtlety is not the style of these books- if there is anything to be known about a character, you will get the information thrown at you like a pile of bricks. Repeatedly.
The romance is barely there but the little that's there is sweet and cliche and predictable and only a little bit cringy. Not my favorite of K. M. Shea's romances (probably the Snow Queen wins that one, with the whole bad to good thing), but not the worst either (looking at you, Sleeping Beauty. Isaiah was THE WORST.)
But overall, I like this series and I'm a fan of K. M. Shea's work. Her books are fun, light, enjoyable reads and I love the overarching story of it all. I also appreciate that her retellings are more than just the overdone "fairy tale but make it dark" cliche. 4/5 stars, good for comfort/easy/relaxing reading.

So excited!
I love all of K. M. She's and A. M. Sohma's books. I loved this book in the series and am anxiously awaiting the next.
