Pretty bad. 400+ pages, and the only thing that happens is a baby is born. And King making himself a character is, to be as charitable as possible, competely stupid. I think this installment has ruined my appetite for this series.

this may be my least favorite of the Dark Tower books even if it includes one of my favorite action sequences. what really brought this book down for me was all the Susannah-Mia business which really just dragged this book on and on for me. this is easily one of the shortest books in the series but felt like one of the longest. the whole Susannah-Mia baby business never seemed very interesting to me (and honestly just another retread of her other split personalities) and am glad it's over w/. kinda. b/c yeah, this book ends w/ a whopper of a cliffhanger that I genuinely loved. you can almost hear King laughing in the distance. which is great and I gotta say all the Roland-Eddie business was pretty incredible, including the astonishing ambush sequence in the general store. just good stuff. hell, I even liked the meta aspects w/ King showing up as a character and I especially liked the coda at the end. (did Stephen King actually die?!) but overall this was a seriously Susannah-Mia heavy book that just kinda dragged even when it was really awesome. one book left (well, technically two) and I gotta say I'm pretty pumped to see how this all plays out.

This is a good book!
Don't let the reviews here mess you up or change your mind.
However, it barely adds to the story, and its almost like a transitional book between the Wolves and The Tower. It ends abruptly, right when the story begins to get on. Yet, its enjoyable nonetheless.
Susannah, the character, is quite deep to me, she is an excellent reflection of the time she comes from and therefore, I enjoy reading what she goes through.
It's neither my favorite, nor my least favorite of this series, yet its enjoyable and I recommend it nonetheless.
Also, Jake is bae

Long Journey to the Dark Tower–Stop 23: The Dark Tower VI: Song of Susannah
3 Stars
This book seems to receive a ton of ire, and I understand. Mia and the pregnancy aren’t great, there’s too much property law, and those elements are a sizable chunk of the book. That said, I feel like the elements with Jake and Father Callahan were enjoyable, and the continuing cast and their development is worth it. It is essentially a prologue to book seven and probably should contain more from the start of the next book.
Dark Tower Relevance: It’s book six!
Next Stop: The conclusion.

Yep. I am still ticked at this book. I don't even know what to say. I still say "Song of Susannah" was the foreshadowing of what ended up being the final book "The Dark Tower". There have probably been better reviews than mine out there on this one. And all I can say is that when Stephen King inserted himself into these books I should have quit while I was ahead. I do think that the graphic novels are awesome and made me fall all in love with these books again. "The Wind Through the Keyhole" was fantastic and helped bring the books back to where they were at the beginning.
Pros: Well we are back with our ka-tet. Mostly.
Cons: Just about everything else. This book was always King's take on the Arthurian legend mixed with some Lord of the Rings sci-fi- mash-up. But this one delving back into Susannah and her breaking into another character was just too much for me. Don't get me started on Mia's chap. The book moves so damn slow it will make you want to scream after a while.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Susannah is my least favorite character of the 4(5 if you include Oy) and so I felt this one dragged a bit but I loved how King worked himself into the story. Especially the last chapter.
