This can't be the end.  Seriously, this cannot be the end, I'm missing resolution!  Unless this is what was intended in the first plae?

The present is Silo 18 and Juliette, her journey outside.  The past and present mix, the Legacy, was/is Donald-Troy and how one paranoid old white man convinced him to participate in a death sentence.  At the end of the world, silos collide and the future of humanity is dawning just one more level up.

It's extremely obvious we've reached the end of a journey because what I think is a race to the finish line.  [book:Wool Omnibus|13453029], in comparison, feels slow.  A slow and tad bit monotonous walking pace.  [book:Shift|17306293] moved in leaps and bounds, quicker-paced.  And now this Dust is kicking up a major ruckus, a headlong rush to the other side.  There isn't as much character growth, just constant conflict mediation and a couple final secrets about the silos and the outside world being revealed.  It is a culmination of all the information that was gained in Wool and Shift, but I wouldn't say it's exactly the best execution and application of the information.  Yet, there are still questions to answer because of the way everything's ended!

Juliette is hell-bent on taking revenge upon these "gods" (basically poor Donald at this point) for designing the silo, destroying the world, and manipulating everyone through arbitrary lies and rules.  She's taking risks that as a newly elected mayor, might not be the best idea considering the recent civil war and strenuous relationships.  Juliette does as a mechanic does and briskly addresses the perceived root cause of the survival issue herself, without being a smart leader to delegate and manage from afar to keep the people calm and united.  She intends to keep her promise of bringing Solo and the kids from Silo 17 into the fold, and as people do, people don't believe the craziest truths.

Donald is out in Silo 1, having realized that he's made some very serious and costly mistakes in killing his only friend and ally, and now there's only one person in his silo that he can trust at all; his sister Charlotte.  Together, he's trying to help Silo 18 without alerting the monitors of Silo 1.  Once again things stop going his way when a cleaner finds blood in the cryo chambers, and then suddenly he's on a countdown to finish his work without being executed and without pushing Juliette and Silo 18 too far.

Charlotte, who's just waking up, is thrust into this familiar-unfamiliar architecture and procedure and has to watch her brother slowly go insane.  Politicians are a certain type of crazy and without Helen, Donald's really feeling it.  Charlotte and Donald are peas in a pod, they both want the same things and while she hasn't fully understood why Donald's so obsessed with Silo 18, she's probably catching his fervor to do the right thing and let this Juliette person live.

Leftover questions/impressions:

- Anna hacked the nanomachines to be in the "purge" fog thing in the silos to be healing rather than harmful, kind of like forced evolution.  Now that Silo 18 is "lost"...are the people truly dead?  What if there are some survivors who are still alive, thanks to the nanomachines forcing adaptation?
- Donald really just killed oblivious folks in Silo 1 and innocent women and children by blowing it up...
- How are Juliette and Charlotte going to contact the other silos?!  We know at least Silo 40 and its neighbors should be "awake"...what Silo 18 ends up meeting Silo 40 and co.?!
- Who was Darcy, in the old world?
- Please tell me Juliette finds out about the pedophiles and annuls Elise's "marriage"
- LUKAS?!  But also, is Raph going to be a new buddy?
- PETER BILLINGS was a good guy after all!  I hope he's ok...
- Shirly and Marc, how sweet together.

Interpersonal relationships are closely tied with survival, more so with a large group.   Without unity and a like-mind they all fail.

This has been a fantastic trilogy. The narrator was great, the story was unique and the ending was very satisfying. A few very emotional character moments, I felt very invested in these people's lives and their survival.
