I wish this book we're longer. I liked Kaleidoscope Hearts but loved Paper Hearts. It sucked me in and wouldn't let go.

Extremely slow and uneventful. I dnf at 46%. there weren’t enough side characters or plot to keep me entertained. I didn’t like that all we got from Jensens pov were his article/letters.

Also this is pitched as a single father but as of the midway point in the book, the daughter had still not been introduced to the book. I felt like this was misleading.

SO MANY SPOILERS BELOW BEWARE
I don't ever write book reviews but I have to get this out somehow and like none of my friends read books. Plus ranting to my boyfriend about this doesn't suffice anymore.
BUT HOLY. SHIT.
MIA 10000000% deserves better than Jensen.
honestly hes the worst i hate him with a burning passion.
don't get me wrong claire did a great job writing the book. the fact that she was able to get me to scream into my pillow and have to get me to restrain myself from throwing my kindle, meant she did a good job. i gave it four stars cause it really is a good book but it does not reflect my views on JENSEN THE MF!!!
anyways onto why this book frustrated me to no end
JENSEN STOP PLAYING THE EFFING VICTIM!!!!!!!!
he acts like its the worst thing in the world that mia didn't stick around to be friends with him after he ripped her heart into a million pieces. MIA WOULD HAVE STUCK AROUND WITH THE KID.
but he had to come out and say that he was going to MARRY THIS GIRL.
i getttt they were on a break (some rachel and ross type stuff). good for them for going out and being with other people. the pregnancy was accidental. i get that trust me! but there was absolutely no reason that you had to put a ring on her finger.
then jensen acting all smug around mia when he should be on his knees BEGGING for her forgiveness.
if he loved her as much as he claimed to then you would not go out and marry somebody else.
like my mind is boggled and i felt like i was gonna double over and throw up all throughout this book.
my mia baby tho I wish I could give you one million hugs. yes our girl was weak when it came to Jensen but hes a manipulative freak.
ALSOOOOO THE FACT THAT THEIR FRIENDS STILL STUCK AROUND WITH JENSEN AND DEFENDED HIM AFTER WHAT HE DID.
I just wanna know what kind of world these people are living in cause if anybody ever pulled that on one of my friends I would rip his balls off no joke.
anyways screw jensen. live laugh love mia.
i hope mia finds a man that treats her like gold
xoxo

3.5 stars, though I might raise it to 4 after I've let it settle in my brain a bit. I really like the characters and Contreras's world, which she sprinkles with reality and timely pop-culture references. Why I didn't love it more:
SpoilerOnce again, good or bad, it just felt tooo real. Like Mia, I had a hard time forgiving Jensen, even though he technically didn't do anything wrong. My heart feels heavy after finishing the book, and while that is likely what others want at the end, I just want happy goodness. Clearly I'm in the minority.

I really enjoyed this story. I likes the first book but I think I liked this one more. I really loved Jensen and Mia. Their love and chemistry was very strong and I knew right from the beginning what was going to happen. I liked that Jensen's parts were of him writing in his column about what was going on in his life and how he felt about it. I feel like the story progressed quickly but not to slowly. I really enjoyed all of the characters. I was so happy with the ending. There were a few times that I was brought to tears by the story. I know a book is always good when I am so invested in the characters' emotions that I tear up when they are upset. I am so happy I downloaded this on Audible.

Not my favorite. Liked the author's writing style so I'll definitely read more from her. I just didn't like the characters or find the second chance arc believable. I didn't buy Jensen's undying love given his past behavior. Why would anyone trust him again after what he did??

He regretted his actions, but whined, complained, and was hurt because Mia walked away from him?? What did he expect? He got another woman pregnant, married her, then wanted Mia, his supposed love, to not only stick around and watch him with Krista's child, but wanted Mia to be his friend while he married Krista, when his relationship with Mia was romantic and he knew Mia was in love with him?

Mia needed to decide how she felt, what she wanted, then stick to her decisions. She apologized way too much, had zero reason to feel guilty about her anger towards Jensen, for avoiding him for five years and her actions during that time.

I like second chance romances, but there are situations, I believe, can't be fixed. This being one of them. How could Mia not be reminded of Jensen's betrayal every time she looked at Olivia, regardless of how great a kid Olivia is?
