Why can't anyone learn that unknown power from the universe should not be messed with? Kitty Pryde tries to remind her fellow X-Men and Guardians that, yes, Black Vortex seems better than The Phoenix, but it's still a universe power that is unknown.

2021 Summer (July);
Reread of Baby!Jean Arc

Most of these were read in a blur of summer bliss in a hammock in a backyard garden as I finally followed up on my original reads of the baby!Jean storyline that I'd gotten half into before falling out of again. I really do continue to love this storyline mostly for her.

Incredibly. Boring. Pretty. Much. Forever.

I really wanted to like this more, but my distaste for Peter Quill has not abated at all.

Not the worst crossover I've read, and I read a bunch of books I wouldn't ordinarily. But it wasn't my favorite. Was more something I felt I had to get through once I'd gotten in. And all because of the Cyclops series that deserved a better ending than this.

Wherein the Guardians of the Galaxy and select members of the Avengers and the X-Men team up to play Goblins and Grottos. And also attempt to save the galaxy from a MacGuffin named THE BLACK VORTEX. Which is a mirror that turns people into cosmically punched up versions of themselves, which is pretty exciting when it's Hank McCoy.

I'm only reading one of the nine storylines this book collected, which is probably why a lot of it left me mystified. But a lot of it did leave me mystified. Also, a distracting number of people monologued with their butts jutting out provocatively, which I found distracting.

Kitty Pride saves the day, which I find utterly believable. But not that she and Star Lord would get married. She's WAY too good for him.

A fine MacGuffin.

I am not hugely into Superheroes in Space, but this is a fun space adventure with primarily the X-Men and the Guardians of the Galaxy supporting. The art in most of the issues was only fine. A lot of it just felt really slick and commercial, which is FINE, but mostly left me feeling cold.

I don't understand why everything has to be so complicated with Marvel? All the time traveling and weird bad guys are making me confused.

Actually 2.5 stars. Was this arc really necessary? Like...really? Was what the purpose here apart from the lovely-dovely Shadowcat x StarLord scene at the end? Come on Marvel, pull yourself together!

I really enjoyed this, although in hindsight I don't really know what the point was....

A fun team up between the Guardians of the Galaxy, Corsairs, and X-Men. There are so many characters involved that several of my favorites received short shrift, but that’s not a huge surprise.
