Overall, I enjoyed this story. For most of the story, it felt like a realistic look into crime journalism and crime investigations. I liked the inclusion of the private school internal dramas, and the inclusion of the main characters' backstories.
I did have an issue with the final conflicts though, as the writer had Rose Riley, the main detective, making a few choices that seemed very out-of-character for her, and out-of-character for any competent and well-trained police person.
I appreciated that the mystery was hard to figure out as the reader, but possible - I like it when I'm able to play along with the mystery, learning more and more and trying to put it together with the characters; and this book did it well.

The mystery in this book was a good one. It kept me guessing to the very end. I didn't connect with any of the detectives at all, but I did really like Bowman. Overall enjoyable novel, but I'm not sure this author's style is for me.

WOW!
Absolutely riveting! This is one of the best mysteries I have read in a long, long while. I look forward to more from Matthew Spencer.

Aussie Mystery
I wished I'd snapped a pic of the map at the beginning of the book or read a hard copy to flip back to. At times I was confused about characters & places. Yet it was still intriguing!

Enjoyable book and an easy read. Contains lots of plot twists and turns until the end. Keeps you guessing about each character and their involvement.

It was interesting getting to see into two professions with detective work and journalism but moved a bit to slow for me until the last few chapters, where it finally pieces together with added creepy factor.

One of the most intelligent mysteries I’ve read. Riley is a complicated character and has a lot left to unfold for the reader. Great story, character and I had to pull out the dictionary for more words than I’d like to admit:)
