I liked this one okay, but it is my least favorite book of the series. The romance was too instant, and it lacked an emotional buildup/chemistry. I also found Leigh to be a weaker character and her growth was minimum. However, the secondary storylines were some of my favs of the series.

This was a nice romance, but it didn't quite gel for me. I enjoyed Aunt Helen's romance with Sully, but mostly because they are nice people who deserve happiness. Their relationship wasn't really convincingly portrayed, primarily due to them being secondary characters and not fully fleshed out (although Sully has been more fully realized as a character in the earlier books in the series).

Leigh's romance with Rob could have used more clothing-required scenes to build a better foundation, in my opinion. It's lovely that they had so much physical chemistry, but that doesn't make for a solid relationship. I felt like the author almost-but-not-quite made use of Leigh's insecurity over being jilted by her childhood best friend/boyfriend just before their wedding. (Side note: I had a hard time buying that he was truly her best friend, given that he never treated her well, and she seemed capable of making other, better friends.)

I'm struggling with how to explain what I thought and felt about this book without writing spoilers. Basically, it seemed a bit uneven. Or like earlier drafts might have been going in different directions that didn't get fully rewritten. It didn't help that I had a hard time relating to Leigh sometimes. She made mountains out of molehills, didn't see what was obvious, and I got impatient with her.

For reader's advisors: story doorway is primary. Plenty of swearing and sex scenes but no violence. There were 3 romances in the book, including one between high school seniors, and all of them involved sex, although the senior citizen sex was mostly "fade to black." This is the fourth book in the series, and it helps to have read the others first, but it's not totally necessary. Pretty much everyone in the story is white and heterosexual, or at least assumed to be so. The setting is contemporary small-town Colorado.

What an adorable town, it makes me want to live there. Leigh is the local doctor at the clinic, and Rob is the owner of the local bar/restaurant. While they have been friends for over a year, it isn't until he brings his son in for stitches that the sparks ignite.

Rob has been single for 9 years after his wife passed away leaving him to raise his two boys. Leigh was heartbroken when her first love broke off their engagement just weeks before their wedding and vowed to never get involved again. However, when the sparks fly it is hard to keep their feelings from growing. So much character, warmth, love, and drama!

I received a free copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
