Louisa is clearly the weakest part of this novel. Half the time I loved her and the other half she annoyed the hell out of me. Bray deserved a better heroine to his hero. The plot itself I really enjoyed, along with the other characters. The main plot feature I didn't like was the involvement of the Prince-- it added an unnecessary layer that started to become too much of a focal point as the story continued. Staying with only Bray's promise to the brother would've been the better choice.

Thoroughly enjoyed the romance and the sizzle between the OTP. Not a big fan of the virginal miss trope, but I do love me a reformed rake. Already started the second book before I reviewed this one. Also, Miss Prim and Proper is my favourite nickname for a character ever.

I truly enjoyed this story. It’s a good start to the series. The hero and heroine are strong, well-developed characters. Their romance is fun and entertaining. I enjoyed watching Bray deal with falling in love, when he doesn’t believe in the feel or know what it is. Louisa is all about family – taking care of her younger sisters and Bray has no experience as an only child of only children.

The secondary characters, including the children, add spice and intrigue to the story. The children are sweet and their interactions with Bray are sweeter and sweeter. This story has all the feels, from grieving siblings, to laughing moments to tender moments. I hope that we get to see more of Bray and Louisa a the series moves on.

Duke Bray Drakestone was unfortunate enough to promise his dying friend that he would marry his younger sister Miss Louisa Prim and offer her the protection of Duke's name. Everything in the Duke rebelled against the idea of being saddled with Louisa and her five younger sisters. So he ignored her for 2 years. Now Bray is ready to due his duty and approached Louisa, but found that Louisa had not been pining away for him. Can he really go through with this arrangement and can he convince Louisa to have him?

I really liked both main characters because they were kind of thrown together by circumstances beyond their control. However, their ability to adapt to their situation and allow their counterpart to grow made this story enjoyable. Louisa was everything one could want in a big sister and once Bray got over being "forced" into a marriage, he saw that Louisa was a really good person. I liked the younger sisters and their desire to have a protector in Bray. the ending where they had their family dinner was my favorite scene in the book.

*special thanks to Tantor Media for the audiobook

Bray Drakestone is not a happy duke. His best friend has just died in a carriage accident. But before he died, Prim made Bray promise not only to take his dog, but also wants Bray to marry his oldest sister.
Two years later, all of London is agog to learn that Miss Prim is in town. Does that mean that she and Bray are finally going to marry? Bets are being laid everywhere.
Well, a lot of people are going to be disappointed, because Louisa (MIss Primm)has NO interest in being married to the man who helped hasten her brother to his death.
This was a good story that really brought the characters of Louisa and Bray to life. I wish there had been more talking about their pasts and where each was coming from, but overall, this was one of my favorite Grey books.
