It is impossible to give this novel an adequate review without spoiling it, but wow. I was told to go into this not knowing anything about it and to not read any reviews or synopses and I’m very glad I followed that advice.
Up until about halfway through, this book makes no sense. Almost infuriatingly so. But then, it does. And it punches you in the goddamn face. Masterfully crafted, honestly, and it’s almost disappointing that it is quantified simply as a “dark romance” even though it technically is.

Flagged for spoilers due to this, but I’m still keeping it super super vague:
The *only* reason I can’t give this 5 stars is because I feel like the ending and the tying up of loose ends happened too quickly and inorganically. The “love fixes everything” trope feels wrong here, and, while it’s not my place to speak for it, I can’t help but worry that some of the representation in the final chapters is damaging, or at least borders on it.

Read this because I saw it on BookTok. Author recommends going into it blind, so I did. It is a very strange, dark and disturbing story that only gets weirder. I kept reading to understand what was happening. I didn’t like the story or the characters. 2 stars since I did finish it. Definitely has a lot of Triggers and I personally wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The writing in this books gives YA a bad name. Cringe. I am not typically one to shy away from Trigger Warnings but it was weird this book as it is told on flash backs and main day. One minute you are talking about the character being abused by a family member and the next chapter it is gratuitous sex scenes with her boyfriend. It’s weird. I would recommend this book to NO ONE!
