I enjoyed this book a lot and almost gave it 5 stars. I felt like the author wrote the whole thing very well and always left the reader a bit the dark. I like not knowing as much as the characters in a thriller, it keeps you turning the pages. I took it down one star because I felt like there was too much going on at the end. I think it would have had a better result if the ending was a bit less twisty turvy.
Overall a good read that I would recommend to a thriller lover

The author definitely kept me intrigued with her bits and pieces of foreshadowing. I liked that the chapters went back and forth between Carla and Lily.

Asperger’s is touch upon because Lily’s adopted brother had it as well as her son, Tom.

Lily’s mother is one strong woman.

Lily lacks confidence. Carla uses her beauty to get what she wants.

Carla steals Lily’s husband, Ed, and ends up murdering the drunk.

Without book club, I never would have read this book.

Soap operas could take a lesson from this book

A very underrated domestic thriller that needs to be added to your shelves. I never saw the ending coming and was completely engrossed in this one. None of the characters were very likable, they each did their fair share of dirty deeds, which made this one even more fun! Although I thoroughly enjoyed this one, its not a book that is going to stick with me for very long. A good popcorn thriller in-between heavier reads.

Sigh...the title gives away the story in my opinion. For me there were surprises as the title and other clues seemed to reveal it all before the end.

"It won't be so bad when you're there, says my new husband before kissing me on the mouth. He tastes of Rice Krispies and that strong toothpaste of his which I still haven't gotten used to. I know, I say before he peels off to the bus stop on the other side of the road. Two lies. Small white ones. Designed to make the other feel better. But that's how some lies start. Small. Well meaning. Until they get too big to handle."

The novel tries to start out like Rebecca with clever lines, but it kind of falls flat. Lily and Ed's marriage seems forced to make the story work. Lily seems judgemental but naive. Ed has nothing redeemable about him, and I found myself shaking my head so much at him, I was starting to get nauseous. Then there is Carla, manipulative and self-centered and also made me shake my head. The one thing this book had going for it was that it kept me reading till the end. I wanted to see if I was right and if Ed, Carla and Lily get what they deserved. I would read another book by Corry.

It could have been shorter. Lots of just mundane stuff.

I did not like Carla and was glad she got her comeuppance, BUT Lily had some serious issues! Really reminded me of Sarah in The Perfect Marriage.

Why they gotta make these women so dang clueless sometimes?! I mean, come on, you don't accidentally end up in prison!!! And you need to follow prison visiting rules for a freaking reason!!! And then this sick attraction to him because he's like your brother. Just no.

Definitely a slow read but I enjoyed the slow twists that kept coming along periodically. Definitely nothing shocking but decent read! And I'm glad that selfish and entitled Carla did not win in the end!!!

This was quite a thrilling read for me! I liked that the book was from two characters’ point of view, and also how the passage of time played into things. It kept me intrigued to read more and there were some things there that I didn’t expect to happen. (Read for Work Book Club)

It seemed to go on a bit too long. Had many points where it could have ended, but then kept on. And on. And on.

Idk there was just something about this book that wasnt my favorite. It took me awhile to read and I wasn’t like super invested in it like I am with other books. I also thought that it was really just like a basic murder plot with like no super big twists or anything. Idk I just didn’t feel connected to the characters in this book like I do with other books and I cant figure out why. I wouldn’t really recommend this one honestly and try something different before this..
