I struggled to get into this one. It took some work to keep up with all the POVs. There were some nice moments that I enjoyed. I was also in a mood most of the time when reading this. It makes me super picky which I hate.

I voluntarily read an early copy.

The switching of POVs was hard to follow. The narrator's Aussie accent was terrible. Couldn't keep listening.

I really wanted to like this book, but I really, really didn’t. It seems mislabeled as romance — it really isn’t. The dust jacket claims it’s “infused with warmth, charm, and wicked humor,” but I found it largely devoid of all three. The writing is very basic and flat. There is a large cast of central characters (Tina, her friend, her mom, her mom’s boyfriend, her dad, her dad’s new girlfriend) and even secondary characters (everyone actually attached to the wedding, for instance), but the book somehow feels the need to go into the life story of every random person adjacent to them for even a fraction of a scene, like bartenders and random party guests and shop assistants and matchmakers on the phone half a country away. Scenes switch perspectives about every other paragraph, including those minor character detours and flashbacks that completely interrupt scenes. People talk at one another half the time instead of having conversations. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was very disappointed.

This book has a nice plot and sounded like a great escape read. And while I loved the travel vibes (since, ya know, it’s been a while due to events-that-shall-not-be-named) and I always love wedding vibes (hopeless romantic here, but y’all already knew that)- this book just...fell flat. I had trouble with the way it flowed. One minute, I’d be reading from someone’s perspective and it would shift so suddenly that I would be confused for a moment before realizing I was actually receiving insight to a friend, a family member, or a shopkeeper’s assistant’s thoughts instead of our normal narrator’s

I enjoyed the story and the characters, but the writing style gave me Game-of-Thrones-level whiplash with how the perspectives would shift. I’m not sure if that’s because I was reading a Kindle Edition and there was some better delineation of sections/perspectives in the physical book.
