These books are cute and light hearted. I always love a marriage of convenience story!

Ok this is a cute little historical romance. That Abigail is desperate enough to keep her bakery to snag herself a man. This was the eventual happy ending that Zach Hamilton needed and the secrets that were revealed in the first book are mostly settled in this one.

Okay, I loved this one! Zach is just so sweet and kindhearted and I love him. And Abby is spunky and I saw myself in her and her struggles and insecurities. The story was exciting and I watching Zach and Abby fall in love was delightful!

"Bread won't rise unless the baker first activates the yeast. Another of her father's favorite sayings. In other words, take one step at a time and trust the process."

This quote is exactly what I would tell you about this book. I would say you need to give this book at least until page 70 before you decide how you feel (Yes specifically 70!!). In the beginning of the book, I was annoyed, the summary told us who she would end up with yet knowing that made the first part seem worthless. The writing was also very basic and borderline cringy at times, but once I fell in love with the characters it was all worth it and I flew through!

As I get older I am starting to realize that characters that seem annoying or who's point of view I don't understand it's just because I'm learning how other people think. Whenever I create a story the characters reflect my own personality but sometimes you have to let yourself absorb a new character even if you don't understand their line of thinking. This can definitely be hard with such a basic writing style because you can't distinguish the way of thinking and the thoughts versus what they actually want to think etc. you kind of have to dig between the lines but it is worth it to know the characters. It is also something to keep in mind that I am going to like certain romance more because of what my own love languages are and that is sometimes why I don't love books that are more focused on physical touch or whatever it may be.

With all that being said once you understand both characters they are the cutest couple ever! I wish we could see more of Rosalind with a spinoff as she continues! Also I know this is technically the second book in a series but I did not read the first book and I wasn't lost at all with this one so it can definitely be enjoyed as a stand alone!

I enjoyed this closed door historical Christian romance even better than the first book in the series. There are themes of grace and growing from mistakes by trusting God the next time. Other than Zach, the main characters from More than Meets the Eye get no more than a cameo, but a couple of questions left open now have answers. Fans of chaste marriage of convenience to lovers will particularly enjoy this slow burn. Also, readers will enjoy having a true villain. I appreciated having an insecure, curvy FMC with an independent, entrepreneurial spirit marry an independent, protective man of few words who loved her curves. This is a lustier book than many Christian novels, done in an honest, appropriate way.

I thought the plot was clever and appreciated that the marriage of convenience didn't require the reader to suspend their disbelief.

The found family was sweet, particularly as Zach recognized their needs and advocated for them.

Favorite scene was when Zach tried to woo his wife and thought he must have mucked it up when he brought tears to his eyes.

Choosing a husband was much like choosing a good baguette.... This should tell you everything you need to know about Abigail; her spunky sweetness makes you root for her from the beginning. This book honestly surprised me. I've read many of the "marriage of convenience" stories, and this is one of the only ones I actually found compelling and believable. I loved the characters from the start, and, even though I realized part way through it was technically the second book in a series, I never felt lost. Definitely recommend.
