A lovely reflective novel. I enjoyed both Lillian’s life story and the history of Manhattan via Lillian’s New Year’s Eve walk. I thought the reflection worked really well. The author’s note at the end made it even better!

Interesting story with some poignant moments. I found the historical timeline more engaging than the 1980s one, a lot of which is describing the topography of Manhattan. I think if I had been more familiar with Manhattan I might have liked those parts better. The vibe is quite nostalgic and reminded me of the Olive Kitteridge books.

Interesting concept but I was mostly bored. It would have been better read instead of listened to.
