First Thought when Finished: Something Sweeter by Candis Terry was my first read by her but it won't be my last. It had all the ingredients that I like in my contemporary romance: laughter, fun, small town, and a swoon-worthy lead! She is now on my very limited contemporary romance list. Can't wait to read more.

Sad to say, my least favourite of the book.
Strange because I was counting on Jesse to be the best story. Hes a vet and hes a sensetive man. Two things I really love being an emotional animal lover myself.

Sadly it just didn't do it for me, its a sweet romance story but it wasn't as good as the others. Hopefully the next book is better.

This book was very cute, with the whole finding your happily ever theme. Well written and very steamy!

Allison and Jesse two of the most stubborn people I have ever read about. Seriously though who doesn't have a little hope for a happily ever after for someone. How can you be a party planner and just not believe it will work out? I know Allison had a tough childhood to make her not believe, but I am happy she put it all on the side to fall in love.

So happy Jesse never gave up. Seriously I love Candis Terry and I cannot wait to read the last two books of this series.

This book was an engaging read. Adult themes, with cowboy flair. Somewhat typical for a romance, but it kept me engaged the whole time.

Something Sweeter is a wonderfully fun & flirty romance set in the lovely town of Sweet, Texas, where the Wilder family keeps everyone on their toes. Especially the ladies.

Okay. So I’ll admit I’m partial to a good old Southern boy. I should be, considering I’m happily married to one! But there is something very special about the Wilder men that keeps me interested in their story every time. For me, I think it’s that laid-back attitude, their great sense of humor, and the sexy/flirty manner they have about them. And it doesn’t hurt that Jana, their momma, raised them knowing how to treat a lady right. I mean, who wouldn’t love a guy who opens the door for you and is attentive, but still all alpha male, right?

Ohhh these books never fail! This is the third book in the Sweet, Texas series and I'm lucky enough to have read and reviewed them all! Candis Terry sure knows how to capture your heart and pull you into her stories! I was highly anticipating the release of this third book because I wanted to know what Jesse is up to! He's a tough (on the outside) vet with a soft spot for his family. Allison is very similar to him in that she cares deeply for her family, but puts up a tough exterior because of her past, and she doesn't really believe in love. Jesse takes this as a challenge and tries to teach Allison what love actually means. Throughout the book, they establish a fun, caring relationship, but each are still holding something back. As the story develops, we find out what they're running from and why they both think they shouldn't fall in love.

Like I said above, Candis Terry definitely knows how to pull at your heartstrings! I read this series a little out of order (reading the 2nd one first), but I was immediately hooked! I couldn't wait to get to the rest! And now that I'm done with Jesse's story, I can't wait to read Jake's!

This is a highly readable (or in my case, listen-able) contemporary romance set in small town Texas. In other words, it is a bit outside my usual comfort zone as I am not exactly into cowboys or Southern culture--or at least, I didn't think I was. Now, however, I may have to change my mind on that one.

The plot of this book is somewhat predictable and has certainly been done before: cynical city girl meets small-town total-softie but Alpha-male cowboy when she visits Texas and falls for him, despite the fact that she doesn't believe in true love. However, there were some additions to the plot that made it fresh and interesting. Allison, our heroine, is a wedding planner and she is from Seattle--I enjoyed the details related to both of those facts. And honestly, I fell pretty hard for Jesse, our hero, too. He may have been almost too perfect, yet there was something about his emotions and the way he bantered with his brothers and family that totally rang true for me. Plus there was an exploration of the topic of gay people in the military, and gay people in Southern families--I won't give more away because it'd be spoilery--and I really appreciated the relevant to real-life topic, though it was perhaps dealt with a little too neatly/tritely.

As I said, Jesse, the love interest, is a really fantastic character. He is smoking hot and also just full of sweet, lovey charm. He was probably a bit *too* perfect, but then again, I read contemporary romances like these because they are light and fluffy and they make my heart happy, and not because they are necessarily true to life. I could really picture Jesse from the descriptions the author used, and as I said, I did love his wit and banter, both with Allison and with his brothers (he is one of five).

This was my first book by this author, and apparently it is the third in a series all about the Wilder family. I am definitely going to check out other books by Candis Terry because this one was quite enjoyable! Also, in case you were wondering: this book has steamy scenes and is fairly graphic, though it is not a sex scene on every page like with some romances. Hope that helps in case you wonder about those things before picking up a book!

Happy reading!

I can admit it… I like fluffy romances with hot sexy guys, and Candis Terry provides that with the Sweet Texas series.

In Something Sweeter, we’re still learning about the Wilder boys, and I have fallen for each one of them. This time we get Jesse’s story. Jesse is the biggest playboy in Sweet… at least that’s the impression he’s intending to leave. But when Allison whirls into Sweet, will that reputation cause him problems?

Allison is in town to make sure her dad isn’t falling for the wrong kind of woman and as someone who doesn’t believe in love anymore she’s sure there’s some other reason they’re getting married. Only she doesn’t count on running into Jesse Wilder her first night in town and she certainly doesn’t expect him to be the son of the woman her father is marrying.

Jesse might have a reputation in Sweet, but that doesn’t mean it’s true and it certainly doesn’t mean he doesn’t believe in love. He’s determined to show Allison that true love does exist and while she might just be perfect for him, it isn’t his turn to fall in love.

I think that what I like most about these books are the relationships in the Wilder family. Not only the brothers, but their mother. Jana, who always has some kind of sage advice and even the ladies in the family. Things may not be perfect… and they’ve certainly had their share of loss and heartache, but despite that, there always tends to be a silver lining that they can find. In Something Sweeter we actually learn a bit more about his brother which I really liked since he is a big factor in each of these novels.

If you’re looking for a romance with a sassy, spunky heroine and a sexy, slightly tortured hero… a charming, fun and lighthearted read… then I definitely recommend this series from Candis Terry.

A must read for fans of Jill Shalvis and Susan Mallery!
