3.75-4 stars. This was really good! I have been kind of in a book funk and this was just what I needed to snap out of it. Hooking Him is the third book in the How to Catch an Alpha series and is Anna and Calvin's book. Anna has recently moved to a small South Carolina town from Chicago, where she left an unhappy engagement, to find herself. She has a new best friend in her elderly, quirky landlady and a job working at the town bakery. She meets hot cop Calvin when her landlady is pulled over with her in the car on the way to bingo. He is interested in her right away, but she is reluctant to get into a new relationship. Still, he is convincing and the two soon fall in love.

This was just a fun, easy comfort read. I really liked Calvin and Anna. They were sweet and sexy together. Anna was not as immature or sassy as sometimes Ms. Reynold's heroines are. I loved the SC beach town vibe and it reminded me of home, as I was born and raised there. The elderly, Golden Girls-esque ladies were a hoot, too.

Overall, this was a good story, entertaining, sweet, sexy and enjoyable. I think this one is my favorite of this series. I look forward to more from Ms. Reynolds in the future!

A quick, fun and sexy story.

➵ Heroine: Anna McAlister left a life of luxury, her tepid engagement, family and friends in Chicago and moved to small town meaning to start over and find herself. She doesn’t want a relationship but never expected the gorgeous detective who’s determined to woo her.

➵ Hero: Calvin Miller just wants to fight crime and keep old ladies from causing car accidents. He didn’t anticipate whirlwind Anna would catch his heart hook, line and sinker. But trying to balance his career and a love life that has some unforeseen added drama is a bit challenging.

➵ Plot: This is a pretty straight forward plotline, Anna and Calvin find each other attractive in more ways than one but their lives present obstacles they need to figure out, which they do together. This was my first Aurora Rose book and hopefully it won't be the last. That said, I jumped in the middle of this series without getting that feeling that I was missing something, which is a definite plus.

➵ Feels: This was a quick and easy to read story. It had lots of cute and fun moments between the main characters as well as some very charming old ladies, a dog and return characters from past books.

➵ Sexiness: There were definitely very steamy moments.

➵ Facts: Hooking Him is book #3 of the How to Catch and Alpha series by Aurora Rose Reynolds. It is a stand alone, contemporary romance told from both points of view with a happy ending.

➵ Overall rating: 4

I really enjoyed this book. I finished it a day. I loved Anna and Calvin. I loved Calvin's dog too. He added humor and he's truly man's best friend. I would recommend any book from this series because they're all good. I liked catching up with the couple from the previous book. This book has plenty going on that it makes you gobble up the pages. You have a budding love, family drama, and murder cases piling up. With every thing that's going this book has plenty of humor and heart. I loved Edie and her posse. They are a hoot and perfect people to be in Anna's life. Anna has a lot of guts starting over to find her happy. This is a book you don't want to pass up!

I found this to be such a cute story! The way Calvin teased Anna in the beginning had me smiling pretty big. I just thought they were such a cute couple and I really enjoyed reading this low angst romance. Plus the "Golden Girls" in this added to the cuteness of the story.

Calvin had a bit of an intense presence. He's a detective so he's naturally protective, but his pursuit of Anna was almost like a wolf stalking his prey. It's such a great combination in a hero.

Anna is the sweet heroine who isn't perfect but who is also genuine in her kindness. Her relationship with the Golden Girls brought a lot of humor to the story.

This was a fun read and I can see myself re-reading it when I need something to lift me up.

I love me some ARR.
This was a quick and easy read with the typical ARR alpha male... and I’m always here for that!
A little suspense. A little sexy. A little sweet. Perfect combo.

Loved this whole series and wish there was more! I just never wanted it to end! Any Aurora Rose Reynolds book is a one-click purchase for me and I am never disappointed. I loved Calvin and Anna as much as I have loved every one of her characters. I want to go to South Carolina and visit them. I feel like I know them - like we’re friends. Sigh. Good book.

Hooking Him, book 3 and final book to the How to Catch an Alpha series was just as good as the first two. You really can not go wrong with any of this author’s books. I am constantly falling in love with all the characters and in this one, it is no different. Anna McAlister had left her life, family, friends and even her fiance behind in Chicago after realizing she did not like where her life was heading. She is now living a simpler life in a small town, working at a bakery and finally has her heading in the right direction. She has some hilarious neighbors that make her life fun and interesting. But one thing she is not interested in and not quite ready, is being in a relationship. Unfortunately for her the local police detective, Calvin Miller, has set his eyes on her. What ensues is a fun and sexy dance between two people who are made for each other. Add in a little bit of murder and suspense and pesky past relationships made their journey so much more enjoyable and satisfying when they reached their happily ever after.
