Good book but..

Ok I love Danielle Allen’s work so I was kind of disappointed with the ending of this one. I feel like there were too many open questions left behind. What happened specifically to city boy and country boy? What project was Luca working on? I wanted more from this story but was left kind of disappointed. This will be the first of 5 books I’ve read so far that will be a one time read. It’s almost like this story wasn’t necessary to even be written except to give a follow up on Date Night and what happened to them.

Nobody's Business

Well, the Lost Boys are at it again and the target...up and coming fashion designer Serena Brooks. Serena is what they are calling turning a "ho into a housewife" after she's seen with the famous photographer Luca Romano. Serena for one is not running around running up a body count, as a matter of fact she wants to forget Marcus her last hookup because he has a girlfriend she didn't know about! Luca and Serena have a professional relationship, but they have a connection that can't be denied. They understand and respect each other's work ethic and the chemistry is almost explosive. The Lost Boys are not making things easy for the situationship and Serena decides she will not be bullied. I loved this book as it continues from Sweatpants Season and addresses the double standard between what's acceptable for men isn't acceptable for women...nah bruhs, we not having it. If you haven't read Sweatpants or Cuffing Season...do yourself a favor.

Loved the witty banter between the leads. It is always fun to read about effective communication. I'm not sure to feel about the misogyny consequences. The only good guys were the men who were romanticly involved with women close to the FMC. The person who still suffered from the mess was the FMC.

I enjoyed this story as well. Some of the Characters in this story appeared in Sweatpant's Season, and some of the characters from that series appeared in this story. I love the way the author develops the characters. Either you despise them (Like with the Lost Boys) or you love them (Like with the main couple). A very good and well written story. I can't wait to hear more from the author and maybe the characters in the future

Wonderful

This was awesome. The flow of this romance was great. Serena was a great character. Her drive and focus was refreshing. Luca was just... whew. That podcast had my blood boiling. It reminded me of the conversations I see on social media. I really loved the direction the story went in.

Let me first say that I love Allen and her writing style. Mostly, I admire her hard hitting content.

With that said.... Cuffing Season was good but not Sweatpants Season good.

Slut-shaming/victim-shaming is heavy stuff but it's a conversation that needs to be had. Where Sweatpants Season starts a conversation it seems that Cuffing Season just kinda rants about the topic.

With the way I was pissed off about what was happening to Serena I expected a more solidified conclusion. I mean it was sweet and the Lost Boys got what was coming but it just doesn't feel concluded to me.

Serena spent the whole book fighting. Fighting against the opinion of others, fighting her attraction to Luca, and fighting the fear of losing her dream because of rumors.

I really think she deserved more. Even if it's just an extended epilogue that is all hers.

This one didn't hit as hard as Sweatpants Season, but it was a good story nonetheless. Serena and Luca's chemistry was great, but I just couldn't get into them. This book was fun, sexy, and also had a great message to spread regarding slut-shaming, which I loved. The ending wrapped up a bit abruptly for me, and I wasn't satisfied with how things ended up. But overall, a good read.

Oh yeah, you did say that.” She sighed. “I know it sucks, but maybe you have to tell him again to make sure he knows the truth.”

You can’t go to jail.” I made a face and shook my head. “I’m not a ride-or-die type of woman. If you had to go to jail for a month for defending me, I’d be willing to still be with you. But anything over a month is questionable. And to be clear, that was just if you went down for defending me. If it was for anything else, nope.”
Luca chuckled. “You wouldn’t wait for me and put money on my books?”

He leaned over and brushed his lips against mine. “I love your voice. I love hearing you speak.” He kissed me again and then sat back. “Please continue.”
Awwww

It was a decent read. It was a slow burn, but the chemistry between the main characters was potent. I just felt like the resolution with the guys running the podcast was wrapped up too quickly for all the drama they caused.
