Laurie runs the cafe at Mermaids Point. Jake is a journalist sent on a break, but also to try and uncover the mystery of the mermaid that's been spotted.

This was a nice easy read, that's perfect for the summer. I really liked Laurie and Jake's characters and the romance that blossomed between them.

Mermaids point is a small seaside village thats name takes after the beauties rumoured to live in the waters.
Surrounded by the sea, rocky islands and deep coves its no wonder such a place would attract the myth.
Laurie is a small café owner in town. Her business has been a little slow like others in town. That is until the blurry image of what looks to be a mermaid is posted on social media and later goes viral.
The image brings a lot of business to the town as tourists flock in hoping to catch a glimpse of a real life mermaid.
Jake Smith is one of those new comers. He has rented a cottage for the whole summer while he works on a book, or so he says. Jake is a journalist who’s last story had been difficult for him. His editor sent him to mermaids point to get behind the story of something lighter in the hopes it will help Jake feel better.
Jake finds himself drawn to the village life and especially drawn to the cute café owner.
He and Laurie quickly make friends and develop a romantic relationship. Being burned before, Laurie is very cautious of who she gets involved with.
Through his investigations Jake discovers that the mermaid posting might have a tie to Laurie’s family. He must make the difficult decision to pursue the truth, or protect Laurie and her family. Leaving you to question if everything work out for him and Laurie, or will it all come crashing to a bitter end?
The picturesque coast and well rounded characters with a hint of romance makes this a light and quick summer read.

All the characters are so lovable, and the family dynamics are beautifully portrayed. I felt an incredible connection to the characters, and the author's vivid descriptions made me feel like I was right there in Mermaids Point. The plot is wonderfully cozy, summery, and cute, and it even brought me to tears in the last chapter. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Would have been better without the romance between Lori and Jake. I'm not a fan of instant "I Love You" adding on to that Lori immediately jumped to conclusions. Also an investigative reporter would not have run with the final story. Lori's parents were delightful.

Really like it! The romance was realistic and cute.

Laurie has her own cafe at Mermaids Point. She lives there supported by a loving family when Jake comes into her life. He will be staying in Mermaids Point for the summer for work.

The book is about the mysterious mermaids sightings and the love story between Laurie and Jake.

You get to know the characters through Laurie's and Jake's pov's.

It was a strange mix of a closed-door romance and something spicier. I didn't particularly like it, but it's an enjoyable read (or listen, in my case) while doing chores.
