This is my first read from this author and it certainly won’t be my last! The writing was really intense and energetic. There was so much going on, but it was totally cohesive at the same time.

Philomena is a strong and determined cop who I couldn’t get enough of… even when her decisions made me shake my head a bit (it happens to the best of them). She pursued a life in law enforcement despite the life and family she was born into.

Upon attempting to save a woman from her abuser, Philomena’s world is turned upside down and chaos ensues. This is a pulse pounding psychological thriller that kept me turning page after page!

I was so infuriated with this book.
The main character was just so gullible. She's described as being so smart, top of her class. Clearly not, it was right Infront of her, she's supposed to be a police office but she has no intuition about anything. The whole time I'm screaming at her to not be so stupid!

Philomena "Phil" McCarthy is a police officer, not many of those in the service want her there as she is the daughter of a east end gangster, turned property developer. She has to deal with criminals outside of the police force and more dangerously, those inside the force. Everything starts to unravel for her when she is forced to arrest as hero police officer for assault. From then her career begins a downward spiral, not because she did anything wrong but because of who she was and who he was.

There is a long drawn out beginning to this book and a rather quick ending. There are some unanswered questions, but there is a lot to speculate about. The main character started out likeable enough but I begin thing she was an extremely stupid woman and who could work out what was happening around her and even when she has suspicions she still did the wrong thing. Towards the end I felt she got what she deserved for being so stupid.

Entertaining enough but overall it kind of fell short of the mark.

Philomena (Phil) McCarthy is a young, ambitious police officer with the Metropolitan Police in London. When she responds to a domestic violence call, she finds the victim, Tempe Brown, trying to protect her abuser, a married man named Darren Goodall, an honored Scotland Yard detective who is afraid of no one and not as honorable as he may seem.

As Phil pursues the case against Goodall, she not only encounters resistance from her police force colleagues but also becomes closely entangled with the victim Tempe who is not at all who she appears or states to be, much to the increasing endangerment of herself and Henry, her fiancée.  Being a female in law enforcement was hard, but also being the daughter of a well-known mobster father, it makes her have to work harder for recognition and respect among fellow police.

This story twists to endanger Phil's reputation not only with her peers but her friends and family.  Who is Tempe and what are her intentions?  You will have to read the story to find out...
