This one may in fact be my favorite of the series. I enjoyed reading it so much. This be in fact be the first time I've read a book with the main character in a wheelchair-- I mean, how does that happen? Why aren't there more books out there rep'ing this population?
Anyhow, this book is pure geek love, super diverse, and features such a sweet little romance. These characters grabbed hold of me and wouldn't let go.
Definitely worth the read, even if you haven't read the rest of the series.

Somewhere between 3 and 3.5. This was cute, and I liked both Gus and Reggie. As I haven't read any other books in this series I didn't feel totally out of the loop, though the plot points with her sister had me raising my eyebrow. However, their romance felt both rushed and kinda... too perfect? especially for a novella. I wouldn't have minded an extra chapter or two if it meant the conflict and big ily moment felt more fleshed out. Maybe I'll give the rest of the series a go, and return to this one with a new perspective later.

Alyssa Cole has a way with quirky characters. In this case 2 Internet content providers - one (Reggie) with a successful website - GirlsWithGlasses and the other (Gus) with a puzzle streaming site with only 1 follower (Reggie).
Two online "misfits" manage to find each other and it's a match made in Google heaven. She needs to hear his voice to help with her imsomnia and he needs her nerdy expertise with an Escape Room he is designing. They are a perfect fit and when they actually meet IRL it is perfect.
Their interactions could be boring in the hands of a less skilled author but Alyssa Cole writes with just the perfect amount of nerdiness and despite their miscues they manage to find their Happily Ever After.

Sweet and gentle
Reggie's desire not to be bound by love or her disability animates this novella. Gus is fun, and it's a relief to see a male character who actually says what he feels

First off, Reggie is THAT girl, ok? I love seeing Black nerdy women thrive. She didn’t let people’s preconceived notions about her get in the way of her goals and I, for one, stan.
Next, Reggie and Gus had amazing chemistry that just jumps off the page and I was happy to see that there was an established relationship beforehand so it didn’t seem too insta-lovey. Gus was also supportive, respected Reggie’s boundaries, and didn’t feel the need to “fix her,” like in Reggie’s previous relationships.
Overall, this was a short delight to read! I do wish that we got at least 50-75 more pages, because the last 20% seemed rushed and wrapped up too neatly. I needed something more from it. Plus, there’s sooooo much to explore with these two that we could hoenstly get a full stand-alone novel 🥲
Like me, if you haven’t read the Reluctant Royals series before jumping into this one, this novella can technically stand on it’s own. However, this would be best enjoyed if you read the first two books since it references other characters and storylines.

I could have read a full length book about Reggie and Gus. Oh my goddess! This novella was one of the sweetest, most diverse things I've read in some time. For 10 chapters these were two wonderfully fleshed out characters. The way these two bantered...oh, my heart.
