Disappointing. They fight and have sec the whole book. mo relationship development
If anything they seem worse together
The plot barely progresses and is confusing at that.

Loved the continuation of the story.  There was 1 chapter in the middle that the transition from one place to another was oddly abrupt and the end explanation was left a little too open ended and then just cut to a feel good final chapter of later on,  felt like there was a chapter missing in these 2 places to round the story off. Other than that,  I loved the story and the journey.

For me this was more of a back story book that really got you connected with the characters and their traumas with some sprinkles of happy moments and spicy scenes. While also showcasing how the character navigate through the traumas even in times of strife. I will be waiting in anticipation for book 3.

This was such a compelling sequel in my opinion. It was very good. There was a bit of over used vocabulary toward the end, such as "devastated" and "murdered" which I believe were intended to evoke strong emotion, but eventually lost all meaning due to over use. Beyond that, I don't really have any complaints.

TLDR:  This book had great potential but there are a ton of random loose ends thrown at you at the very end. Skipped the majority of the smut because it's just so repetitive and Adrian's sex POV was cringe. I suppose book 3 will tie it all together but overall disappointed. 😒

It was great reading Isolde's struggle with the idea of being changed by Adrian and then
her change into an aufhocker.
I felt like she was finally giving her something to deal with other than her hate/wanting to fuck Adrian. However, just like Scarlett's other fmc she is still constantly whining and fighting with Adrian for sometimes the stupidest reason. And this gets old very quick. I also found myself skipping over the majority of the smut scenes ESPECIALLY Adrian's. But, giving her this fight as well as the thought of a traitor being amongst their noblesse I was hooked wanting to see where the story was going to go.

Anyway while I was zooming through the beginning and middle of the book with all the new magic and wanting to know what was going on with Ravena and if it was actually her causing the mist and plague, I found the end extremely confusing and lacking. She kind of throws a lot of twists and turns in, without explanation. For example,
the twist with Sorin was great and I was truly shook, but now Adrian is being controlled by Dis (which Daroc knew about) and it was actually Isolde that created the book to destroy Adrian aka Dis and she was working with Ravena when she was Yesenia and oh Ana is also in on it and has actually been using the book. Did I mention Yesenia was also pregnant when she died?
Like these things are all thrown at the reader in the last couple chapters, just for it to end with the fact that Isolde could lose Adrian??
