Great concept, mediocre execution. The concept of a year-round Christmas town certainly brings the “cozy” to “cozy mystery”. Lots of effort is put towards creating the holly jolly ambience of a Christmas town, but in contrast, be prepared for townsfolk who are surprisingly mean spirited and full of attitude, even the MC at times.
The biggest letdown is that this book is not of the best written quality. For example, the dialogue is flat, frequently in the following format:
“___,” she said.
“___,” he said.
“___,” she said.

This is a true Christmas lovers mystery. Merry Wilkinson is a single woman who owns Mrs. Claus's Treasures, a year round Christmas shop in the town of Rudolph, a town devoted to Christmas. During this years parade and festivities something goes awry and Merry is on a mission to figure out who is causing all of the trouble.
The plot is well developed and you'll fall in love with the characters, well...most of them anyway. There was enough story line to keep my interest and it kept me guessing until the very end! I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Christmas and mysteries.

Five stars for the mystery, including the misleading hints - unfortunately the author chose to show us that she doesn't believe women belong in positions of power, and that folks with racialized names are suspicious.
Moderate: Death and Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Racism, Sexism, Toxic relationship, Murder, Fire/Fire injury, Alcohol, and Injury/Injury detail

I love the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop series by Delany so I was excited when I saw she had a new Christmas cozy series. This one was a bit slow in places introducing new characters but the mystery was good and I enjoyed the setting and characters once I got to know them a bit. The romance was a bit lacking, but that isn't uncommon for the first book in a series. I look forward to the next one.

Meh this wasn't giving what I was looking for.
Maybe it's my mood. I'm gonna save this series and try again later.
