Many people have told me I need to read this book. Now I understand why. Minnesota, Beer, Macalester and many spots in St. Paul. Strong women, challenging relationships.  What more could one want? I'm still a little stunned the author is a guy, and that he graduated from Northwestern, not Mac.

The story started off slow, but quickly drew me in. Laugh out loud funny, while touching and emotional.  Loved it.

4.5/5. As a Minnesotan, all the little references to places and culture (especially more rural) are so spot on and make me feel right at home! I loved the look at the beer culture, but even more I loved the story of family (even if I have issues with some aspects). Overall, a heartwarming and wonderful read! Highly recommend, but especially if you know Minnesota.

After crying in my classroom (and in my car and on the drive home) I desperately needed a book that would bring some metaphorical sunlight my way. The Lager Queen of Minnesota was just the book. Full of strong female characters who work hard and still have the time to support others! This book serves as a reminder of what people can be.  Stradal is able to write an inspiring narrative while not shying away from the hurt of everyday life and the tragedies that many of us face.
