Meghan March for the WIN

I’m not sure where to start on how insanely good this book was. Heart pounding intensity, never put the book down, can’t breathe because I need the next book type of good. You out did yourself girl!

I finished reading Creole Kingpin and was fascinated by Magnolia Maison. She’s an incredible mix of hard exterior and kind interior. Reading this book just reinforces that image and presents a new fantastic heroine, Keira.

Heiress of the Seven Sins Whiskey company, Keira Kilgore took over as CEO from her father and works hard at making it a successful endeavor. At the moment, she’s trying to save her company from the financial ruin her late husband wrought forth with his skimming and bad deals. And just when she’s about to make things right, she gets the bad news there’s a half-million dollars debt to none other than the Ruthless King of New Orleans, Lachlan Mount.

You don’t say the name of the Ruthless King in broad daylight, he’s like the night monster that will arrive and skim you away, and that’s almost exactly what he did to Keira. He will accept payment for the loan made in exchange for her.

Keira runs to call her bestie and her advice is: “Don’t let him break you, Ke-ke. You keep ahold of your pride and never let go. He won’t know how to handle you.”

The deal with Mount is rife with domination and rebellion on Keira’s part. Keira follows Magnolia’s advice and controls her head, tries to keep her cool, even as Mount controls her body and her lust. They are explosive together and Mount founds himself increasingly distracted by this woman. He planned to be entertained for a few months and pass on, like he usually does, but this woman is like no other, a hellion, and as time goes by, he can’t get her out of his head and for the first time in ages, he smiles.

I was entranced by this story. Even though Keira was kidnapped, forced to live with him in exchange for the debt that her late husband accrued and didn’t pay, he’s never abusive and never offensive, he’s just dominant and sure of her sexuality, which is still unexploited. For some reason, he knows she will be a spectacular submissive in kinky play and he starts her initiation. Little does he know she won’t be the only one initiated! Such an entrancing book, especially watching as a ruthless man starts to develop a tender side. Truly amazing!

Good Lord, what did I just read?! I'm still looking at my e-reader, peering over the cliff that author Meghan March left us all hanging onto, wondering how in the HECK I'm supposed to wait for the second book in her Mount trilogy.

Fans of Meghan's Beneath series have met Lachlan Mount. He's legend, and certainly no one to cross. So how in the world did Keira Kilgore find herself on the wrong side of this man? The more she resists him, the more he insists on her submission, intrigued despite himself, and determined that she bow to his will.

RUTHLESS KING had me flipping pages like my e-reader was on fire. I mean, I was hooked, and there was no way that I was stopping until I reached THE END, for all the good that it did me. Why, you ask? Because, oh, my freaking goodness, how in the world could the story end there?! What do you mean, Meghan, that I have to wait for DEFIANT QUEEN, the next book in the trilogy? This is what makes a book better than good, book junkies, and puts it firmly into the 'Best of 2017' for this girl. It's enthralling, it's suspenseful, it's sexier than all get-out, and I didn't.want.it.to.end.

I cannot wait to see what's coming for Lachlan and Keira, and, knowing Meghan, it'll be not only worth waiting for, but better than I could possibly anticipate. 5+ stars for the King of New Orleans and his unwilling queen. Grab this one now, y'all, and get ready to be dazzled, because Lachlan Mount will not be denied.

Hot and bothered

Damn Meghan March has out done herself once again. Ruthless King makes you think you are getting Mount's story but in reality you are seeing him through Keira's perspective which is intriguing and makes you want to hear Mount's side. Another 5 star read from this talented author.
