This was cute. Light, quick and fluffy. There were parts that were predictable, but I fully enjoyed it nonetheless.

I was gifted an ebook via Netgalley.

This novel follows Twinkle, an 16 year old Indian-American aspiring filmmaker, who begins a film project for the Summer Festival with her crush's twin brother, Sahil. Twinkle is struggling with the fact that her best friend, Maddie, has new popular friends that she just simply does not fit in with. She definitely has some insecurities and is unsure of herself.

What I really liked in the story was Dadi and the backstory about Nani. I really liked Sahil for the most part. What (or rather who) I had trouble with is Twinkle. She was different than I had expected. She read younger than 16 at times...more like 13 or so in my mind. She was irrational and impulsive and...even selfish. She pines over Sahil's twin, Neal, for almost the entire book even though she kept saying Sahil was great and she liked him more. Neal could give her popularity. Times where she could have used a backbone, it was gone, but then when she needed to be a little more diplomatic, she went off the rails. It was just odd. Overall the story as a whole wasn't terrible by any means, but I felt some aspects were repetitive and it was hard to get over Twinkle's personality.

I am still, very much so, looking forward to When Ashish Met Sweetie.

This story was everything a contemporary romance should be, it was exciting, funny, suspenseful and cute. I loved the MC filmmaker Twinkle. She is an amazingly funny girl, who is just trying to figure everything out. This story was refreshing and just wholesome. I loved ever minute of it. The Perfect Summer Read!

DNF at 36%.

This was reading a little too young for my personal taste. It is written in diary/journal/letter format, and I just couldn't connect to the inner dialogue of the main character. She felt like a YA character written by an adult. She actually would have felt more authentic had she been a teen in the 1980s, which I think lends to the author writing a teen the way she thinks teens act in 2019.

Unfortunately, this format did not jive with me. I quite enjoyed Menon's debut novel and look forward to her future works. I just couldn't connect with the journal/letter style used in this novel.

From Twinkle, with Love was exactly the cutsie romance I needed. I'll be honest though; this was the first time I've read a book where I felt way older than the main character. I guess it's one of the risks I run by getting older and mainly reading YA.

Because of this age and maturity difference, I had trouble connecting with the plot. Regardless, I really did enjoy From Twinkle, with Love. Twinkle's character development seemed a little rushed and forced to me. It didn't feel like a natural progression.

I definitely suggest reading From Twinkle, with Love, especially if you want a cute read.

Delightful teenage romance with a good story and a believably flawed character.

What an enjoyable little contemporary read this was. It has something not very many YA books have, an Indian heroine. And Twinkle is a quirky, sweet teenager with huge ambitions: to become a film director. What an inspiring book this is for young girls, encouraging them to reach for the stars. Something like seven percent of successful movies are directed by women and even less by people of Indian descent. Twinkle wants to break the mold. Of course she's still a normal teenage girl, so we still get all the drama that comes with a YA contemporary. Fun novel that I would recommend to everybody.
