This is the first book in the Fangs and Feathers series.
This is a well paced and exciting introduction to a new urban fantasy series. Lyra is a tough cop with the LVMPD (Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department) who also has a strong moral compass. She is well thought out and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

It was hard to get into but after a few chapters it flowed nicely. Interesting characters and magic system. Loved the family unit and her dragon partner.

In a world where magic is the norm and supernatural creatures are known, Lyra has a weird type of magic: she can syphon it from people she touches it. When a terrorist put a barrier up around her city, Lyra is on the other side of the barrier and can't help but figure out how to stop the terrorist group. Thankfully, she has a dragon as a partner and a fae on her side.
I thought this was the perfect mix of mystery and paranormal, and I can't wait to figure out who Lyra really is.

Eh? This was interesting but this dragon is an asshole and certainly not a best friend. I’m not even sure why the dragon is in this book except to be a sharp edge. She adds nothing to the plot and I didn’t care about her character at all. The rest of the book was fun, and I’ll check out book two.

Great start!
This was a great start to this new to me series - pure urban fantasy. There might be a romantic subplot later on (hope there is) but book 1 is all about establishment. Magic is out in the open and has been for 23 years - and the world is still adjusting. Is an interesting premise.
