Kuvira's arc was really interesting and I love King William! Overall a great story, only a few parts that I thought were cheesy.

Some of the plot elements feel a bit thin, even for high concept fantasy, but the continued character growth easily outweighs the flaws.

Clap your hands if you believe, and chant it with me!
THREESOME! THREESOME! THREESOME! THREESOME!
Well, in a perfect world, it would be Korra, Asami, and Kuvira lovin' each other but alas, we don't live in there so such fantasy can only be dreamed of.

Starts strong and then loses some steam, but does have a pretty satisfactory conclusion. Compared to Turf Wars, Ruins of the Empire does a much better job of showing Korra and Asami as a couple without making their relationship the center of the story. I like seeing more of Wu, as I'm a fan of his character.

SpoilerThe artwork and characterization is beautiful! Only issue I had was with Kuvira's story being rushed and her ability to be remorseful at the end. The fact she was able to follow that storyline and Azula wasn't is a little disappointing.

I think that this is better written than Turf Wars (this coming from someone who LOVED Turf Wars.) I like how the plot was implemented into the story and I liked the pacing that it moved in. Korra and her friends are very much in the background for this trilogy though, and though it didn't bother me because I love Kuvira, many people will find it off-putting, but I had fun reading this and felt it had a satisfying conclusion.

(When will we get a trilogy based on Asami? When? Give my girl screen time!)
