Adult book! Violence, violence, and violence. Reference to sex and rape. I would not recommend this book to a young adult.

I cannot believe I did not pick up this book sooner.

But, it was a slow read hence it took me two damn months to finish (mostly because I was busy with work) and I am glad I recently pickup this book again just to read through. It took me half of the book to get me interested and anticipate what's next.

The characters - I wish there is more to it. The development was under-developed. Even the chemistry was dull. I like Elias's better but he's dumb, confused and I like it. It was getting better towards the end especially after Laia start to spy at Blackcliff.

Will definitely read the sequel.

This book was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the characters and the plot but the setting was the best aspect of the book for me. I liked this a lot but not enough to want to continue on with the series. I can definitely see why it’s so popular and loved though.

4.5 - both main characters got a little repetitive in the end imo.

It took me a while to get into this one. Honestly, I wasn't completely invested in anything until I was halfway through. But once I got invested... wow. I could not stop reading! This book is like a classic ya fantasy, but it's also very unexpected. I'm excited to see where the rest of the story goes!
