Evie Sage is trying to figure out what she’s doing with her life when she stumbles across… The Villain & he… offers her a job? Oh, alright, well, okay then! Evie needs the money to take care of her father & sister, so she’s gunna do what she needs to do.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I thought Evie’s character was fun & really likable. I appreciated the dynamics between all of the characters, & thought that they all balanced each other out quite nicely.

The end surprised me!! I really was not expecting any of what happened in those last few chapters, so I encourage those that easily DNF to continue on to get the full experience of the book!

I loved this book, honestly. The reason it lost half a star to me is because it’s noted to be “adult” & I would have pegged it as “YA” so that’s really it & if it wasn’t for that, I would have given it 5 stars — in fact, I had until I noticed that.

A espera tinha valido a pena.

Então a destruição é a solução dele? - Evie revirou os olhos, afastando o cabelo solto do rosto. - Homens - bufou.

Maybe I'm not the intended audience, but I can't believe this is the finished version of the book.  I hate that almost everything is someone thinking about something that happened a few minutes ago instead of just happening chronologically. Not much happens and I can barely see for all the red herons  jammed in this book when it's painfully obvious who is behind everything. Has potential but painfully needs a good editor to give it a hand and guide it in the right direction. Not worth the hype. IMO.

I read this as if it was a fanfic, so I was able to get thru it even if it wasn’t as quickly as I hoped. I’m not a fan of the writing, but the villain concept is always fun. I will likely attempt the next book in the series.

This book had everything I love in a series and it was honestly brilliant!

Evie Sage is the main provider for her little sister and ill father. Having employment isn’t just important, it’s vital, so when a vacancy for the infamous Villain opens up, Evie takes the job. After all, she’s just his assistant. Despite their positions, Evie and the Villain can’t help but feel drawn to one another, and with someone out to get the Villain, it’s a dangerous time in Rennedawn.

I absolutely adored this book! Evie and the Villain were so enjoyable. Evie is the epitome of a sunshine character, she’s amusing and selfless, adorable and optimistic. Her humour and rapport she had with the other characters was so lovely. Despite her overall positive and happy persona, we get to see darker and more serious sides to her as well.

The Villain is my favourite kind of love interest. Broody, grumpy and hates everyone but her. He’s stubborn, protective and obsessed with Evie and I love it.

I also really enjoyed the side characters and the relationships that we got to see. Evie’s relationship with Lyssa was the sweetest, Evie and Becky’s frenemy relationship was so entertaining. I also really liked Blake, Tatianna and Clare.

I loved the slowburn between Evie and the Villain, I love when a romance takes multiple books to develop and I can’t wait to continue seeing it grow.

I found the storyline to be simplistic in the best way, oftentimes fantasy books really lean into the complex world building, however sometimes I just want something that’s easy to read and this definitely fits that.

Overall, I loved this book and I’m diving right into the next one!
